Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - fun week @ camp!

wow! i have had an absolutely AWESOME week at camp!

Monday morning we left around 11. i was in the car with four other girls (three 6th graders and one leader) as we headed down to Georgetown College in KY!! we got there around 1 or 1:30. after playing a quick game, registering, and getting our nametags, we went up to our dorm.

the girls had three hallways out of four on the third floor of Allen Hall. We unpacked, got settled, got our keys, got familiar with the bathrooms and our leaders rooms. then we had a little "mini meeting" about food and showers and rooms and bedtime and stuff like that. (it turns out that my friend who was supposed to go didn't show up. i was SO dissapointed....but I have to know that God is in control!) I roomed with two other girls (I'll call them Rimanda and Lizzy). i kind of had a hard time eating there on campus because there were only five things to choose from each meal, and almost all of them had dairy in it. :-) i took a lot of my own food, so i survived!

Tuesday morning started early. because of this--------

there was a woman (not in our church) who was up dressing and showering before 6 am (crazy woman). so she was spraying hairspray in the room, when suddenly the fire alarm goes off. in my dorm room, i wake up first, so i grab my Bible, wallet, key, and one shoe (haha). i yelled at Lizzy and she got up immediately, but Rimanda wouldn't wake up. so i screamed, "[Rimanda]! The fire alarm is going off, so get your butt out of bed!" she was up instantly.
we all rushed outside, the fire department came, and the fire chief went in to confirm it was a false alarm. he told us not to spray hairspray or anything else in the rooms, but do it in the bathrooms. :-/ yeah okay, but it woke us all up at 5:45 AM!!! UGHH! (lol)

so this was our schedule for Tuesday--Thursday:

7:30 am-breakfast
8:30 am-Quiet Time with church group
9 am- I can't wait...
9:30 am-Bible Study/Rec
12pm-lunch
1:30 pm-Track A
2:45 pm-Track B
3:45 pm-free time
5:30 pm-dinner
6:30 pm-worship
7:30 pm-Church Group Time
8:30 pm-Party
10:15 pm-in room
10:30- lights out

let me break this down:

breakfast: obviously, we go to the dining hall and have breakfast. simple as that.

Quiet time with church group: my little church group consisted of Rimanda, me, [i'll call this girl] C.J, Vasannah, Madizzle, and our leader was C. Long (these are all nicknames!). we each got a devotional booklet that had our morning devotionals in it and we did one each morning. after we did them, we met as a church group and discussed them, prayed over each other, and headed out to I can't wait....

I Can't Wait...: this was a time to get you rowdy for camp and stuff. the sorted you into your Bible Study group (mine was the Screenplays-by the way, this theme was called "Lights, Camera, Action!").

Bible Study/Rec: Bible Study was when we played games and discussed that day's theme with each other. each Bible Study group had around 3-4 kids from each church, randomally chosen. after that, we played games during rec against the other Bible Study groups and won a "golden poppy" ( a stuffed toy that looked like a box of popcorn with eyes and a mouth that was spray painted "gold") which was for the best team.

Lunch: self explainitory

Track A: at the beginning of the week, we chose what were called tracks. my first pick was Archery, so i did Archer from 1:30-2:45. it was SO much fun!

Track B: we also chose a track b. My first pick was Drama, so i did drama! i really didn't do much, but we did something called "a full day of camp in 2 minutes". different people imitated track times, worship, party, Bible study, all that stuff. i did a track time and imitated doing archery. it was great! everyone loved it when we performed it!

Free Time: Tuesday during free time a lot of girls from our church went to this indoor pool. Wednesday, there was a big volleygame between the Bible study leaders and the church leaders! the Bible study leaders won. :-P Thursday, almost half the camp went to this outdoor water park! it was my first time going on a big slide, bigger than the one at the local waterpark. :-)

Dinner: self explanitory

Worship: for me, this was the best part of the week! we sang some songs that were just so powerful, i found myself wanting to fall on my knees! one song said in the chorus,

"Savior, He can move the mountains.
My God is mighty to save, he is mighty to save.
Forever, Author of Salvation,
He rose and conquered the grave,
Jesus conqored the grave!"

it also said,

"Everyone needs forgiveness,
the kindness of a Savior.
Let mercy fall on me!
Everyone needs compassion!"

it was so amazing. i saw kids everywhere lifting there hands and heads just praising our God! what a wonderful sight it was to see!

Church Group Time: this was where our church met in our room for some teaching and prayer. then we would break up into small groups and discuss the day and prayers and such.

Party: this was when we played games, had blaring music, had competitions and stuff. it was SO cool!

In Room and Lights Out: self explainitory, but we had story time one night in the girls' room! it was really cool. our room stayed up till like 1:30 every night and woke up at 6:30.

About Me

I AM: a daughter of the King of kings. A garden locked up. not my own. bought with a price. a mirror for Christ. 13 years old. homeschooled. imaginative. loved. precious. a servant. I LOVE: my Abba. music. hugs. close friends. the Word. using my imagination. giving out God's love and mercy. pouring myself out to others. journaling. playing piano. playing guitar. my Mama and Papa. I WILL: give up my life for someone else. live overseas. roam the earth. adopt a child. die for Christ. fall in love. I HATE: sin. lying lips. two-faced people. false modesty. blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
