Well, it was 2 weeks to the day, but I got my glasses back last Thursday (2/7) and it was like getting corrected vision all over again! I remember vividly when I was in 6th grade and astounded & awestruck to see that one could actually see individual leaves on the trees ACROSS THE STREET! Why hadn't anyone told me about that before!! LOL
My column is good-to-go until the first Friday in March (and I'm working on that, and subsequent columns). It's a very good feeling that this committement is taken care of and having a plan in place is going to help me stay on top of that committment.
Last Thursday (when I picked up my glasses) was the first time for me to be out-and-about after having the flu, and it was the first of a busy several days.
Friday I spent the whole afternoon with an Canadian friend--picked her up at the airport, drove her around to see the sights, before taking her to the in-town friend where she was staying. (The Stockyards and downtown Fort Worth, primarily.)
Saturday, my son took the ACT and I headed for Arlington for lunch with the crew of internet friends of the Metroplex. There were 13 of us, including three children and our Canadian friend. Then another friend & I went to The Parks Mall to do a little shopping. (Successfully, thankfully!) JCPenney had a GREAT sale and I bought myself four tops (2 blouses & 2 sweaters) and a skirt suit. Each of the tops were originally in the $30 price range, but I got each for $3.97! And the suit (skirt & top) were normally $90, but I got it for $8.97!! What a deal! Then I went to my dad's, talking him into going ahead and getting ready and going with him to the Post Office & Grocery Store. Long, but very good day!
Sunday was more "normal" - church in the morning, then a laid-back afternoon, and then I took ds to his Youth Small Group while I went to my LifeGroup (small group) for a game night. My dh had to work, so it was 2 couples and myself, but it was most enjoyable!
This week, I have a mystery date! Dh has told me it's dressy; doesn't include dinner or a hotel night, although we may get something to eat "on our way;" and our LifeGroup knows what it is as he shared with them a couple of weeks ago while I was out of the room! I'll be sure to update and let you all know what he has in store for me!
Hope you all have a fun Valentine's Day yourselves!
