Ahh, the words from the song September Song... They come in handy at times.
I've been checking off homeschool group duties this year.
Last Field Trip to Organize - Done - Sept 2007 to the UTA Planetarium.
Last Enrichment Class to Teach - Brought Owl Pellets to dissect at the January homeschool group meeting.
HIS group's newsletter - have 3 more to do (still looking for a replacement Newsletter Editor).
Cityview group's newsletter - have 6 more to go (although I'm passing the printing job off for March and thereafter). I have February's newsletter to do for Cityview and it's about time to start working on the HIS newsletter for March.
We've already ordered & paid for Mike's cap & gown. His senior group pictures will be taken this coming Monday. There are 7 other seniors in the HIS group. I need to go through the photo albums and get scanned onto the computer, then work up a PowerPoint to be played right before he goes up to the stage to get his diploma from his father and me. That has a deadline of March 11th. Graduation is set for May 30th, and the moms are all in deep discussion on how to decorate the church's Fellowship Hall. This is the church we meet for "Thursday School" co-op classes and where the graduation exercises will be held in their main Sanctuary.
tick tick tick tick
The clock is ticking... now, of course, just due to the way we've orchestrated his schoolwork, he'll still be doing school at home... up until August 1st, the last day of our homeschooling journey. It's a bit bittersweet. There are a few regrets, primarily only that I didn't stay on top of some of his work about 2-3 years ago when I was dealing with depression. He and I have both been sick this "school year" and he's presently 3 weeks "behind" what I had planned, and is trying valiantly to catch up so that either by Monday, next week or the following Monday, he'll be back on track. I hope so. There's only so many days left now and I'm starting to feel some pressure. I shouldn't! My battle cry has been "behind whom??", "stay on track for what purpose?", and such. I call it senioritis! LOL It affects parents as well!
Well, deadlines loom... back to it all... ;)
September Song was written by Kurt Weill (with lyrics by Maxwell Anderson) for the 1938 musical Knickerbocker Holiday.
