I'm a big fan of the game of Farkle. It's a dice game using 6 dice. You score with a one or a five, and then with various other combinations. Here is the chart I made up and use. Some games have different point systems.

One person rolls and keep rolling as many dice as they have, taking away the ones giving them points. If all dice have been used for points, then you can throw the whole group again. For example of I roll a 5, 3, 2, 2, 1, 6 -- I would take out the 1 (100 pts) choosing to reroll the 5 instead of taking it, while someone else might choose to take both the 1 and the 5. Then I would reroll the 5, 3, 2, 2, and 6. Then might come up 4, 4, 4, 2, and 3. The three 4s are taken aside to where the 1 of the first roll is placed, giving me a total of 500 pts. Now i can choose to reroll the 2 and 3, or choose to stop and allow the next person to roll. I have noticed for me, anyhow, that if when there are only 2 dice, it's best to stop there instead of pushing onward.
This could easily be a good & easy game that helps children learn some addition facts, too.
I hope that helps you get started with Farkle (or Farkel).
