Well, it's been an interesting last several weeks!
Our son had his graduation ceremony on May 31st. I'm still working on the slide show to see if I can make it "blog friendly." I made up a Power Point® slide show of the last 18 years or so and the group that he graduated with (there were 7 other seniors) contracted to have another type of slide show done also. The slide show is in a format that I'm not familiar with and not sure how to translate into something that I can put on my blog (or even on GodTube.com). For that matter, the power point doesn't look easy to translate into a video for the wide world web. So when I do get that done, I'll be sure to post it here or link to it.
He's still working away, finishing the classes he has so that we can say, "Yes, you're 'done'!" but it will be into the Fall. He still has Youth Camp to go to, a Student Leadership Retreat, and some breaks with his Gramps (my dad) between class days. It's nice to have the ceremony finished with, but I'm sure it might have been nicer for him to be graduated and to say "he's done" at the same time. Oh well... that's what comes from getting sick this Fall & Winter and getting behind.
The other big news is we have a new resident under our roof--my mom! We've been getting her all set up. Our plan is to build an addition to the back of the house, with her own entrance & exit with a door into the laundry room. We were hoping to build a garage apartment (on one level), but the city and its ordinances & zoning have made it prohibitive. First step, however, is to get our porch replaced and we're in the process of getting estimates. Hopefully, before the end of the month, work will be going on for a new porch.
So if I've been remiss in updating my blog, that's been the reason! It's been busy here. I have been able to get back on top of my Friday Column on HomeschoolBlogger's Company Front Porch, so I have several columns all ready to go (all of June's and the first in July, plus one or two in August). It's been very difficult writing weekly, so working ahead has helped some in taming my schedule. |
