Moms H.O.P.E. Tashkent Projects Report

Thanks to many of you for supporting moms H.O.P.E. by purchasing pearls and pashminas we were able to:

 

Baby Orphanage: Spring 2004- Spring 2005

 

1.    Organized baby holding and visits to Children’s Orphanage in Uzbekistan.

2.    Purchased liquid vitamins to help supplement the children.

3.    Purchased multiple packages of disposable diapers to be used during hospital stays for the children. These were purchased as often as necessary per requests from the Director.

4.    Supplied the Orphanage with clothes through both purchases and from donations we received on their behalf.

5.    Purchased age and developmentally appropriate toys.

6.    Purchased equipment to aid in mobility and strengthening activities. examples: 8 baby bouncer seats, 4 baby swings, mobiles, 6 baby gyms, 3 Johnny Jumpers, 6 exersaucers.

7.   On many occasions purchased fruit to supplement the diet.

8.   Hired a part time (20 hrs per week) gardener to work in the back plots for two purposes: to keep the yard nice for the children and to free up some of the workers time so they could devote themselves to the children more.

9.    Arranged the repair of two sandboxes that were unsafe and not usable.

10. Purchased a balance beam for the children’s use.

11. Purchased cloth diapers to be used daily.

12.Purchased a playhouse for the children.

13. Repaired outdoor patios and the yards (clearing dead trees, leveling of ground, & removal of debris)

14.Had sod grass installed in the playground.

15.Purchased New Years gift bags for all 80 children at the orphanage, stuffed with treats per the director's request.

16.Worked very closely with the SAO office to procure a US government grant on behalf of the Orphanage; the funds were used to completely remodel the suites, medical office and facilities, and the yards. All of the necessary furniture, washers, dryers, fixtures, and playground equipment were also included in the work accomplished through this grant.

 

PARA Olympics Fall 04

Donated gift bags for all of the participates of the Para Olympic games. 5 orphanages participated in the event for severely handicapped children. Moms H.O.P.E. also purchased sporting equipment for each orphanage to take with them. 

 

Qibray Orphanage

 

Contributed funds for repairs done at the laundry facility of Qibray orphanage.

 

Cataract Initiative Fall 04

 

          We funded fifty cataract surgeries for children in fall 2004. We solicited donations from the community and supplemented the remaining funds to cover all costs for the gift of sight.
