Lupton's Loving Life

Quick catch up:

I am having a hard time getting pictures onto the blog right now. For some reason it takes FOREVER to upload and transfer them. They go onto facebook without any trouble. So…  Here are a few links to some pictures.

We went out for the day to sus out some batik shops. Batik is cloth stamping. It takes hours and hours for a few yards to be done. The white fabric is stamped with wax and then dipped, stamped again and dipped in another color and so one. The cloth has to dry between colors. Each piece of fabric is unique and really it is all just so fun! We are going to head out to Easters village in the next few weeks to have a class and see the work being done.

For today Addison and I each bought a skirt.

I *LoVe* Trashy Bags! what a wonderful idea! There are no landfills in Ghana- trash is just kinda dumped here and there. There are millions of these plastics bags all over the place- from water bags, frozen yogurt treats and orange juice pouches.

This is an awesome NGO that has taken a problem, the endless supply of plastic trash, and created a desirable product for consumers. It rocks. The bags they make are really well done, they are cute and they are helping out a cause. What could be better?!

I went to T.B. a few weeks ago and came home with an idea. So today Addison and I went out with a friend and her two daughters for a little field trip. We were shown the entire process and really enjoyed learning all the steps that go into making these products. And I was able to turn in my special order as well, score!

"Music Day is an international festival celebrated in more than 100 countries on five continents. Every year on summer solstice, this event brings together millions of music lovers and musicians."
This year in Accra there were 11 groups with different styles and over 6 hours of music! The event was held outdoors and it was a delightful evening out! Temperature wise it was the coolest evening we have experiences here in Ghana so far, the “cool” breezes were most welcomed… It was a great intro to the music scene of West Africa!
