Bands in Concert

Posted in All things music

This evening Dylan performed in Bands in Concert. What a lovely evening we had!  The soup was served as we were listening to the jazz sounds of the Big Band, our main course was devoured while listening to Dylan in Concert Band performing and our dessert was served while we were listening to the Wind Symphony.

What a fabby way to spend the evening, with wonderful food, great music and some fun conversations! Dylan was so cute sitting there in the front row, I love hearing him play!

You can give a little listen to Concert Band by clicking right HERE , just give it a minute to load and you can hear a little of three or was it four songs??

Sydney Tour

Posted in All things music

The boys performed in the Sydney Opera House on Saturday evening. They were in a choir that sang Dona Nobis Pacem, as the grand finale of World Projects 18th Australian International Music festival.

There were 9 countries that sent groups of musicians and choristers to be a part of the festival. There were some amazing groups there performing!! What a blessing to be able to take part in this festival, to experience the tour and for the choir members to have that time to bond those friendships.

I was the tour manager on this trip. We arrived on time to all of our appointments and didn’t lose any of the kiddos—so a big YEA!

Paul and Addison came up for the day to watch the performance and attend the after party with us. Addison & Teddy were so cute and so excited to see us after being gone for 4 days!

We came home at 3:00 on Sunday afternoon and have really enjoyed being in our own beds with a few full nights sleep behind us!

How exciting to have sung at the SOH, wandering around back stage, in the green room, and attending a party there afterwards. It was a memory maker trip to put in the scrapbooks for sure!

Medieval Concert

Posted in All things music

Last night Addison performed with Junior Strings in the Canberra Youth music Medieval Concert. It was a play written by one of the CYM conductors, Louise Butler, that showcased all four of the strings groups: Junior Stings, String Ensemble, Sinfonietta and Peg Mantle Strings.

This story centered around two “youths” on holiday in Wales with their parents, exploring old castles. The pair of them would much rather be elsewhere.... until they stumble upon a tunnel that takes them back in time, where they see many historical sights and hear the types of music that were played at each one.

It was a great way to bring all the groups together while giving them all pieces to perform necessary for the story.

Junior Strings ... before the show began.

In the audience waiting to start ....
