Hey Doug, Nice buck! You should be well set with trail baloney through the new year! Nice kid too. Enjoy 'em while they're this age, they eat less and don't mouth off as much.
I figure the head of the household oughta be the guy who gets to make the last word decision on things. A good head will ask the helpmeet for her opinions and take that into consideration. But when the buck stops, it's the head's decision to make. An a good helpmeet will accept and support that. Also, a good helpmeet does a minimum of meddling and tries really hard not to jabber in the head's ear about every little thing. In 18 years of marriage, we've had our good and bad times -- both in me taking the lead and her letting me lead. We've had problems in both areas along the way.
A good illustration of a good head and helpmeet is in Rocky II. Rocky agrees to fight against Adrian's wishes, but he can't put his heart into it as long as she witholds her support. And as soon as she wakes up from the coma and tells Rocky to win, then the music plays as he trains to win the heavyweight title from Apollo Creed. So a good head NEEDS the support of his helpmeet, and a good helpmeet will give that, even if it means trusting her head over her own good judgement.

You nailed it. Especially when you start talking about the Rocky story. Exactly what happens in that story is what is commanded of each of us in the bible. Husbands love your wives and wives respect your husbands. Wives aren't commanded to love them because that already happens naturally for them, and vice versa - husbands must love their wives as a command because it otherwise doesn't come naturally for them. Respect comes naturally to men. So, when Rocky put his foot down, Adrian respected him by supporting him. But Rocky loved her and couldn't successfully go ahead without Adrian's support. What an awesome example! Way to go jayfromclevland!
Why is it for guys those stories do so much for us?
Blessings,
Hubby

That's why I put him up there....just to reassure you that everything is set. Couple more years and he'll be ready to go. Now the question was...or more accurately, the intent of the question was, or perhaps what the question was based on was.....I forgot now,... wait..no, ..OK ....this is it; I have been noticing certain trends in the "Christian Community" of disconentedness in our defined roles a husbands and wives, fathers and mothers....hence Head of households/helpmeets as God would have it. I'm wondering if the accepted definitions of these roles are closer to what God has intended or closer to what has become politically correct by society's standards or maybe even what we ourselves have deemed acceptable definitions. Housewife has become a dirty word and head of household a cheauvinistic (sp?......it's a frech word anyway....who cares) one. I'm sure that I have cleared this up for you....now just answer the question already. PS, I'll try to post Tay at least once a month or so. You know Ben is awfully cute his dang self, and my daughter is second in beauty only to Dalyn.

roles you ask? yes. i love roles. with butter and jelly especially. and yes, i'm interested in the other D and D male and female offspring. how are their teeth? and just so you know, my son Bo Bo is very jealous of his brother in law. Coie has been bringing him to your blog page (and dalyn's) so he can see that it is really true that non adults are actually able to have and use a gun.

My ds (17yo) loves to hunt, and has always gone out with his grandpa who is now 82. Last year he got 2 nice deer, but this year, wherever he went, the deer had somehow gotten advance warning. On his sister's wooded property, she had 2 huge bucks and 10 does there nearly everyday, EXCEPT for the two days he was there. Go figure. I think they were all there the day after he left thumbing their antlers at him...
Our Scout camp will be having a controlled hunt during Ohio's muzzle loading season, and he is taking Grandpa to that. I would love to see my dad get a great deer this year, as chances are not terrific that he will be with us next year due to his lung cancer. Dad loves to hunt, loves his guns, and has taught my boys lots of life lessons through the years while out in the woods with them. Lots of talking time during hunting season, and Dad loves to pass on his love of nature, hunting, life, and God to his grandsons while out there each year.
How he would love to hunt where you have been! He always planned to take the boys out moose, elk, and antelope hunting when my oldest graduated from college, but illness has kept him from it.
Your family will treasure these moments in years to come!
