Chugging along....

There is not a whole lot to report from my homefront lately.

The California homeschool debacle is simmering away, but until the summer when the new hearings are set there will likely be nothing new to write about on that (meaning the In re: Rachel L. case).

School is going along pretty well... my student is able to state most of his addition facts now without counting on his fingers (well, most of the time, LOL)!  Given that I don't recall doing addition until first grade, I think that's pretty good!  I know, I know, that was 30 years ago... I have no idea when they start math now in the government schools... but I can still be proud of my son.  It's my prerogative.

My parents should have returned from a short mission trip to Rwanda last night.  After 36 hours in flight or sitting at airports, I don't think they are ready for phonecalls and visitors, but I can't wait to hear about their experiences there and see their pictures!  After Google-ing their specific location there and looking at some blogs from others who were also there, or had gone before, it looks like it was in a beautiful area!  Think "Gorillas in the Mist" rather than "Lion King".

The best news at home is.... drumroll please... the 3yo has FINALLY decided to commit to using the potty!  Every time!  Yea!  You may recall that I'd posted before that he was trying to potty train himself.  Well, that was an on again and off again effort, usually resulting in me cleaning up pee or throwing out a pair of undies full of poop (I don't cloth diaper, so I don't have the setup to rinse diapers/undies out over the toilet, or I would have rinsed and washed them.  Some things are just too gross to handle if you don't have the right equipment at hand).  Both of us usually got frustrated and went back to diapers or pullups (which is the same as a diaper to him, just more "acceptable" since babies don't wear them) but, thanks to Grandma and Transformers underwear, he is now a full time potty pro!  I had to explain that Transformers don't like to be lubricated on (if you've seen the movie, you'll get it... LOL... it's autonomous robot life form potty-humor).

So, there you have it... the latest goings on around my lilypad.
