| They will be ready to leave soon... they are so big and you can see that they are getting their flight feathers and are covered with more than fluff now. I'll just leave you with some pics and video that I got off of Birdcam yesterday and today. Night Vision from Birdcam. Notice the feathers on the chicks.Here you can see how big the chicks are getting, and that their undersides are feathering out. Notice the speckled breast. This will help them hide among the bushes for a few more weeks while their "adult" feathers and coloring come in. Baby robins can fly short distances and maybe even to a tree branch to roost with Mr. Robin, but until they are proficient at flying they spend more time closer to the ground. (Excuse the baby crying... that's my one year old telling me he would rather I pick him up than watch me take pictures of the TV screen). I had to include this one. It was almost like this chick was "showing off" it's feathers. You can see why I say they look almost ready to leave the nest. Those look like flight feathers to me. ~ |
