Actually, I have eight siblings. I might enjoy them more if we had a larger house, but somehow I doubt it. When I grow up, I think I'll have no children at all. My mom's had enough for both of us.

Hmm, maybe I'll use Karia's suggestion for a while. Any questions for the professional Quidditch player?

I believe I may have come up with a plan to force myself to post more often. Shall I tell you of my plan? Yes? All right, then. My brilliant plan needs a little background to be understood, because, brilliant as it is, it may be a little confusing without the proper explanation.

First, have you ever heard of a game called 'Board of Experts'? I can't hear you, so I'll just assume, for now, that you haven't. Very well. The game 'Board of Experts' works thusly: Take a bunch of people, pick a few from out of the crowd and bring them up front. Now everybody votes on what they want this select few to pretend to be. Once they've decided on something (plumbers, doctors, ninjas, whatever), they ask these people questions, and these people answer the questions in a professional manner (mostly by making a bunch of stuff up).

That was the background. Now, for my brilliant plan. You are ready, yes? Okay. *deep breath* You will all suggest something or someone that you want me to pretend to be (alien, dragonslayer, Shakespeare, whatever).  I'll pick some of my favorites, and you'll all vote for the one you like best. Then you can start asking me questions, and I'll have to post to answer them, see? It's a fantastic plan, yes? I thought of it all by myself, yes I did, me!

EXT. PLANET SA-OR --DAY

 

A city made mostly of grey metal. Strange vehicles stream a few yards above the streets. In the center of the city is a large, castle-like building made of shiny, white metal. High towers sprout satellite dishes and ariels. Guard ships patrol at all heights. A high, thick wall with four gates in it surrounds the whole thing, cutting it off from the city. The royal palace.

 

The sun reflects off of it and the tiny ships that swoop around it. It looks coool. We zoom in on the palace, the camera occasionally blocked by passing guard ships, then focuses on one wall, near a turret. No windows.

 

FADE IN:

 

INT. PLANET SA-OR --ROYAL PALACE

 

An impressive hallway, seemingly made of white marble. Tall, cream-colored pillars stand at intervals along the walls. The walls, clearly holograms, flicker occasionally. The camera focuses on a GU3 bot floating slowly back and forth in front of a set of metal doors. The compressed air beneath the GU3 shimmers a vague purple. A red photoreceptor band wraps all the way around the robot's head. Small sections of the band blink brighter now and then.

 

The metal doors are framed by three intricately carved pieces of light-colored wood. The doors slide open, and CROWN PRINCE REN, a small alien boy with purple hair, runs out. Reaching up, he tugs excitedly on the GU3's arm. Behind him, the doors close, making almost no noise.

 

REN

Guess what, guess what!

 

GU3

What, young master REN?

 

REN

There's a girl, and she's called REN too!

 

GU3 (PATRONIZINGLY)

Really, young master REN?

 

REN nods enthusiastically.

 

GU3 (CONT'D)

That's very... unusual. REN is a boy's name, you know.

 

REN

Yes, but there is, and she's a girl! I just talked to her.

 

GU3 is shocked and horrified. REN had been in playroom 7 for almost five hours. GU3 hadn't heard anybody in there but REN, he hadn't seen anybody else go in, and no alarms had gone off. He hopes REN is making it up.

 

GU3

What!? How is this possible?

 

REN (CONFUSED AND A LITTLE CONCERNED)

She was in the room...

 

GU3 (TO THE WALL OPPOSITE THE DOOR)

Activate.

 

A part of the wall flickers, blurs, then resolidifies into what is recognizable as a computer screen.

 

COMPUTER (FEMALE VOICE, SCREEN ECHOES)

Activated. Request?

 

GU3

Has there been anyone besides CROWN PRINCE REN inside playroom 7 at any time during the past five hours?

 

COMPUTER

Negative. Request?

 

GU3 (GREATLY RELIEVED)

None. Thank you.

 

COMPUTER

Glad to be of service.

 

The screen blurs momentarily, then the piece of wall reappears, seeming as solid as ever. GU3 turns to REN, who has been watching quietly with a slightly puzzled expression.

 

GU3 (SCOLDINGLY)

Don't scare me like that, young master REN!

 

REN (UNCOMPREHENDINGLY)

How'd I scare you?

 

GU3 (CONT'D)

Saying there was a girl in the room with you! Some girl she'd have to be, to make it past security undetected. She'd have to be a Talent! Do you know what that would MEAN, young master REN?

 

REN

Umm... no.

 

GU3 (STARTLED, ALMOST FALLS OUT OF THE AIR)

OH! No, of course you don't! YOU're only two years old, after all.

 

REN (RESIGNEDLY)

Two and a half.

 

Turning, he tromps across the hall to the doors. Putting his hand out, he thumps his palm against the apparently wooden doorframe. His palm vanishes into the hologram a little, and the frame flickers slightly around his hand. The doors slide open. Now we're at an angle where we can see in.

 

Computer screens and data panels line the walls. Power cords loop across the ceiling. A half built robot stands in one corner. The smooth, cream-colored floor gives a bit beneath REN's boots. Looking around at the technology, REN seems to perk up a bit. The doors slide closed and the scene ends.

 

Well? What do you think? I haven't started drafting the next scene yet, but if you like this bit, I'll post the next as soon as it's ready.
