Draiocht School: A Home for the Curious

homeschooling in my dreams

My mind is always in the past.  Right now I'm reading three different books on the ancient Celts.   I yearn to share this with the kids, SO much, that I've been writing letters to them wherein I regurgitate in kid-friendly vocabulary every thing I am learning.

I love American history, too, but it can't be appreciated without a sturdy understanding of medieval history.  How can you understand medieval history without Roman history?   How can you understand Rome unless you have a grasp of the Celts, the Greeks, the Norse and the Hebrews?

I am so impatient with American history that I've been dreaming about ancient history all day long -- and now at night, too!

Last night I dreamt that we were studying the Greenleaf Guide to Famous Men of Greece, and we all went to the Parthenon in Nashville to wrap it up.

I had to laugh! I am in Ancients and dreaming of American history! I enjoy your blog so much. Thank you for pouring out your life giving, truth filled words!

I am a radical mama homeschooling, with my poet partner, four curious (in both senses) little boys. We live in a Victorian duplex in a small city in central NY. Our methods are eclectic but never contrived and rollercoaster as we struggle to temper freedom with excellence.
