In a previous post I told everyone that my fifteen year old daughter has returned home from the public schools. Check out her new blog here at homeschoolblogger and say hi!
An amazing reference for living books on history topics is at the Tapestry of Grace website. All of 20th c history is under YEAR 4 (it's on the 4 year chronological history cycle--so year 1 is ancients and so on). Below is the address for year 4's amazon books shopping list. It's a user-friendly, big chart with weekly topics. WWI starts in week 3 of year 4, and it's divided into 4 student levels. The furtherest right section, called rhetoric, is for approximately 10th-12th grade. There are suggestions for non-fiction history, literature, biographies, movies, art, science, architecture, church history, etc. Click on the book and it takes you to the amazon page to buy it. Naturally, TOG benefits if you buy the amazon books through their website's link. They understand if you use the list to go to the library, calling it "the poor man's tapestry". That's what I did the first year I found it, then I started buying the program. Let me know if I can help any further, Mary
Cool! I am heading over there now. My 14 year old started a new blog for photography - her new hobby. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/PhotoJournalist/

Hi! This is Candace's friend (or pen-pal) Laura. I saw your avatar, and it reminded me of someone. I couldn't think of who it was and then I saw it up closer! You look like (almost EXACTLY) my aunt (she's actually my 2nd cousin) Melissa! Hmmm...now that's weird!
Bye!
Love,
Laura
