Palms of His Hands

"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." ~ William Arthur Ward

• Dec. 14, 2005 - The Christmas Bear

Many dear saints have passed on to glory this year leaving behind grieving loved ones.  I asked God to give me a way to minister to those hurting hearts this Christmas season and this is what He gave me:

I made an ornament using a very small stuffed bear I found at the Dollar Tree.  (You could use any bear.  I'm not posting a picture so you can use your own unique touch.)  In its paws I placed a laminated card which read "(name)'s 1st Christmas with Jesus."  On the back I attached this poem the Lord gave me:

The Christmas Bear

I am just a little bear

not very big at all.

But I was sent to tell you

that God sees your tear drops fall.

He knows you're sad and lonely

with grief this Christmas Day,

and wants me to remind you

this is why Christ came our way.

He came to rescue sinners,

to set the captives free,

and give life most abundant

for all eternity.

Though (name) is not here with you,

and things aren't as you planned,

God holds you both securely,

but for now in separate hands.

(Isaiah 49:15-16)

(c) Drewe Llyn Jeffcoat 2005

I grant permission to use the poem as is (be sure to insert the correct name) to help you minister to someone's grieving heart this Christmas season.
