Five years after 9-11-2001, people speculate as to whether we are any safer than we were then. I don't have to speculate. I know that I am safe in my Father's hands. As I talked to the kids about what happened five years ago and we prayed together for the families who lost loved ones, the safety of our troops in Iraq and around the world, our President, the capture of Osama Bin Laden, and for His protection, we also meditated on the words of this hymn by Isaac Watts.
O God, Our Help in Ages Past
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come;
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.
