For the Sake of the Call

Jun. 25, 2007 - Biltmore Estate

We were so excited to receive an wedding invitation from a college friend who we inaccurately assumed would always remain a bachelor; however, since we already have plans to go to Pennsylvania this summer, we didn't think dh would be able to take time off work to go to North Carolina for the ceremony.  When a business trip was scheduled for Father's Day weekend, we were not at all thrilled, until his manager gave him the rest of the week off in compensation, the exact dates of the wedding!  So we hastily made hotel reservations (boy was THAT expensive!), called the bride with our last minute RSVP, loaded the van and headed to Asheville for an unexpected vacation!

Thursday we spent the day at the Biltmore Estate: what a place!  These are just a few of the many pictures I took that day.

The whole family in front of the Biltmore House

Two little princesses dressed for a day at the Estate.

3dd6 makes herself at home on the front porch while our son poses with a lion.

Hanging out by the fountain.

Where'd these goofy kids come from?

That last photo needs to be framed in your kitchen! TOO CUTE! So glad you had a great time. I want to hear more about Pigeon Forge, too... it is so close to where we went to college, but those were DIFFERENT days than traveling with four kiddos! :)

What a gorgeous hotel! I have a question regarding your comment on my blog: Why did you and your husband "meet" so many police officers in Toronto? What were you DOING?!?!
My hubby's family is from that area, and they do talk a bit differently than us...

what CUTE children and beautiful dresses...

by the way... my eldest... we are training in BOTH of the areas you mentioned earlier... inappropriate affection (can someone say personal space?) and interrupting / knowing how and when to talk to adults...

some great tips I picked up too! :)

That was quite a place! I loved the matching dresses the little girls had one btw.

BUT I had to come over and tell you something cool. I had written up a post today on Word. I was formulating my thoughts a song kept going through my mind. I knew it came straight from scripture, but I could only remember the END of the song. I grabbed my Bible and searched but couldn't find it. I kept humming it the rest of the day. I even said a prayer for God to tell me that song! (silly, but it was plaguing me.)

It was THE EXACT verse in Lamentations. THAT WAS IT! Why that verse popped into your mind today? Well, that was courtesy of my prayer to God, via you.....back to me.

Thanks! :)

Okay, not to sound redundant, but your kids are so cute! I love those dresses, did you sew them? The colors are so sweet on them. I also love that last picture...too cute!
I just went through all our recent pictures to create a birthmom photo album for our latest adoption. I am not great with scrapbooking (I think you must be super creative and VERY patient to create them) - the picture of your family would have been perfect...well, if it was of us (nothing like confusion, eh?)
So glad you made your friend's wedding-God is so good. Your getaway looked lovely.

thanks for coming by my blog...hope you will come again.

So glad you had a wonderful time. You were just a few miles from me!
Isn't that view of the Biltmore beautiful? They have a homeschool week in the fall. Maybe you can come back then? : )
Happy Day!

Let me just add to, I'm sure, the multitude of others: your family is just beautiful! Aren't we blessed to have such treasures, such gifts, as our children? Who are we to be blessed with such blessings?

May God bless you more than your expectations allow!
