One of my favorite people in the world used to have an e-mail address Room for a dog. After her fifth child, she finally got one, and people probably thought she was crazy. With four kids and a kitten, I'm questioning my own sanity today!
I've always had this romantic notion that little boys need puppies and little girls need kittens. For years, dh (the dog lover) said, "No!" The house was too small, the yard was too small, we were still potty training kids, we just moved here...with all the practical reasons why we shouldn't get a dog, "Not right now," began to sound like, "Not ever." But when we heard of free puppies, from champion pedigree lines, and parents with perfect dispositions, "maybe someday" became today! Although, I've scoffed at the idea of a "Christmas puppy" in the past, I now have one. 2am potty breaks in the frigid wind, here I come! :)

Already, our new baby is a joy, and everyone is very excited! I'm especially excited, and I've never been much of a dog person myself!
Our new pup is a Golden Labradoodle/Black Lab mix, and for now, her name seems to be Lainey. We'll see if that sticks. At the moment, she certainly appears to be a "bright shining light" to our home! And you can always call her Elaine if you can't find another E kid around. :)
Other contenders are Nora (Eleanor) or Maybelline (on account of her white eyeliner and painted toes). What do you think?
Oh, and if you happen to be in the market for a really sweet, adorable, free Christmas puppy yourself and live anywhere close to Morristown, Indiana. Let me know, there's more where this one came from. :)
Poor Spunky has no idea what has just happened!
