Dec. 30, 2007 - The Christmas Rundown

Pardon my silence, but I've been too busy enjoying life to blog about it.  My middle sister was in town for 9 days from South Dakota.  While she was with us, my house was a revolving door, with my parents, brother, other sister and brother-in-law all dropping in to visit.  Then, my husband's brother and his wife were in town too, visiting her family, so they dropped by for an afternoon.  Besides training the puppy, I've been keeping the food flowing: a big pot of soup, chili & cornbread, cheese and crackers... feeding a dozen plus people is a busy job.  My husband was fortunate to be able to take the week off work, so while we spent a lot of time laying around and playing games, we also got out quite a bit with a trip to the zoo, and ice skating.  We spent Christmas Eve at my next younger sister's church, Christmas morning at our house, and then went back to my sister & brother-in-law's house for Christmas dinner & presents with my family that afternoon.  We stayed there too late watching The Bishop's Wife (Cary Grant) and It's A Wonderful Life.  Fun times!  The day after, my middle sister, dad, and husband blessed me with an almost empty house so that I could catch up on laundry and after-Christmas cleaning while they took a trip to the Children's Museum with the kids.  Tomorrow night we're hosting our family New Year's Eve party, and then I think I'll be partied and hostessed out for a few weeks at least, or until the Colt's playoff game.  :)  Overall, we've had a great Christmas, and I'm sad to see it end!  It was really hard to say goodbye to my sister yesterday!  Unfortunately, my youngest daughter has had a fever since yesterday, so I missed church to stay home with her.  I can hear somebody coughing now.  I've had an irritating cough that has lingered for a week or so myself.  Otherwise, we're all doing well.  Oh, except the kitten who I had to take to the vet.  How I managed to make it through an entire year with 4 kids without having to take them to the doctor once, only to end up at the vet with a dehydrated kitten who has a fever, I can't figure out!  The vet couldn't really figure out what was wrong with him, but he's been rehydrated and is on anti-biotics now.  I'm shaking my head!

The kids have had a wonderful time with family, and we're all getting used to having the puppy around and remembering to watch her.  Not exactly easy, but fun.  I will say, it's tough to watch the puppy while sitting in front of the computer screen, so I haven't been reading very many of your blogs the past couple of weeks.  I did manage to type up my Christmas letter this afternoon, so hopefully I can get that in the mail this week.  That's quite an accomplishment considering I didn't get it out until just before Valentine's Day last year!

So that's what we've been up to around here.  We'll see if I'm able to carve out some time to post pictures.  There's one experience that I just have to blog about, and I have some overdue blog business to take care of too.  But don't hold your breath!  I still have things that I wanted to blog about back in July that I never did.  Pity!  So, since I haven't had a chance to make the rounds and find out how fabulous all of your Christmases were, would you be so kind as to fill me in?  What kind of special things have you been up to the past couple of weeks?   I really do miss you all and look forward to catching up with you!

Grace and Peace,

Angel

It sounds like you had a fun and blessed time. And I'm sure you'll have a great New Year's party too.
We had a quiet and blessed Christmas. It snowed a lot, so we didn't get to go to friends house on Christmas Eve. But other than that, we had a good time.
We are having those same friends over for New Year's Eve, and our 20 yo nephew, if the weather holds out, which it should.
So that was a quick run down of our holidays. It's good to hear yours went so well, and that you are all getting use to the puppy running around. :)

I know what you mean about having things to blog about, but just not getting around to it. I have a few of those rambling around in my brain.

My husband said, "Hey, you're slacking on your blog" to me the other day. I can't keep up during the holidays...unless it's a quick one.

You're QUITE the hostess. :)
So glad it's you, not me.

I really like the Bishop's wife too. I love staying up watching old movies.

That is our plan for tonight as well.

Happy new Year.

If only I could just download what was in my brain straight onto my blog I'd be good to go! I've missed you and can't wait to read what's coming up.

I haven't been blogging either, for similar reasons. I also can't seem to find the motivations, lately, either. I will try to get back to it soon. It has been fun catching up with yours though!
