THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED!!
(This post will stay at the top of my blog until April 26, 2009, when the contest ends.

Please read the contest rules! I have had to delete multiple comments that didn't include an email address/URL to contact them, and that didn't include the name of an item from the Good For The Kids website. Read the rules if you want your entry to count!
Angie, owner of Good For The Kids web-store is letting me host a giveaway for a $30 gift certificate to her store! If you haven't been to her store before, I promise you will be pleased with all she has to offer in the way of educational toys, and safe products for babies and children.
I love giving my children educational toys. I prefer the old-fashioned toys that don't flash and whir and whizz and talk to you. We have electronic educational toys in our home, but they aren't the foundation of our toy collection. The less "bells and whistles" a toy has, the more it allows our children to use their imagination and creativity. A toy may teach the ABC's and colors to your child, but if it can only be used in one way ... it won't inspire their imagination or creativity. Sometimes education is messy, at least educational play can be messy! But it is priceless and the mess is temporary.
In my opinion, educational toys are ones that:
- Build Creativity -- toys and craft supplies that inspire creative play, crafts, or art
- Promote Imagination -- toys that involve your children's imaginations
- Inspire Storytelling -- toys that inspire your children to act out stories and create their own stories
- Encourage Problem Solving -- toys that challenge children to solve puzzles
- Develop Innovative Thinking -- toys that allow children to build and experiment
- Teach New Concepts -- toys that teach our children important concepts
One of my favorite companies that creates educational toys is Melissa & Doug. The Melissa & Doug toys not only meet my qualifications of an educational toy, but they are also well-made, colorful, safe and sturdy.
We have their wooden peg puzzles, their wooden 25 piece jig saw puzzles, their wooden 40 piece jig saw puzzles, their magnetic activity sets, their dress up toys, their mini jigsaw wooden puzzle sets, a 200 piece wooden jig saw puzzle, their musical instruments, their Pound A Peg toy, their Grasping Caterpillar toy, and some of their cardboard jigsaw puzzles. We've given their toys to our nieces and nephew, as well as our own children.
When I first went to the Good For The Kids website, I immediately zoned in on the fact that she sells Melissa & Doug toys. I could spend hours browsing through the Melissa & Doug products! (Not to mention all the other great items Angie sells for our children!)
YOU have the chance to win a $30 gift certificate to Good For The Kids from Angie. Then you'll be able to shop, and not just browse through her wonderful store yourself. And while you're there looking around, go ahead and create a wishlist to share with your friends and families before the next birthday or gift-giving holiday rolls around. And don't forget to bookmark Angie's website so you can go back again and again, to shop for your family and your friends.
And now for the giveaway!
