The Ramblings Of A New Homeschool Mom!

Finally Official!!!

Yay!!!!!!  WE ARE OFFICIAL!!!!!  I am sooo relieved!  We will be starting our first day on the 18th, and I've finished getting everything together for the kids.  We had a "school meeting", so the kids and I could talk about what is going to go on from Monday on.  I've encouraged them to come to me with ideas on things they might like to study that's outside our regular curriculum.  I'm looking forward to getting started!

Although, the nerves have kicked in a bit!  I was sitting in the livingroom the other night, surrounded by papers, forms and notebooks, when it hit me.  I totally freaked for a while!  "I have nothing for them!  What are we going to do for science?!  What if I mess this up?!"  Between the Olympics and that, I didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night!  LOL!!!  But, I've calmed down a bit, thanks to the hubby.  He is sooooo confident in me, and I'm so thankful.  I have come to the conclusion that the first few weeks will be transition time, so I shouldn't worry about it so much.  Once we get our rythmn, we'll be fine.  I can do it!!!

On another note....I'm worried about my computer, and am going to have the hubby back up all my stuff.  It's been running slow, and sometimes it acts weird ( don't you love my technical talk? ), so I'm afraid I might have gotten a bug.  I think we might need to get it looked at.  The hubby has a laptop, too, so I shouldn't be offline, but I cannot lose my favorites, or my pictures.  I have soooo many things saved to my favorites, it's not even funny!  It would take me a whole year to redo that stuff!!!  Keep your fingers crossed!  Although, I don't think the hubby would mind if we had to get rid of mine, he hates it!  Hence getting his own!  LOL!!!

Have a good weekend!

A summer of stress

I can't believe that it's August already!  I say that alot now that I'm in my thirties!  I can't believe it's *insert month here*, I can't believe my nephew is *insert age here*, I can't believe that I'm turning *not telling* already.  Weird!  Anyway, I've gotten off the subject already, that's a record for sure!  LOL!!!  Anywhoo....

The reason I say that is because we will be starting school on the 18th!  I'm excited, but also a little miffed.  We have been trying to join a certain group since MAY.  I put stuff off all the time, unfortunately, but this was something that I was determined to do on time!  Early, even!  We turned in our paperwork, and handed over the check before my kids were out of public school!  I wanted to be registered and ready to go by August so that I would have no excuse to back out this time!  Plus, it's just one less thing to stress over!  Turns out, this has been the thing that I have stressed out about the most!

I was feeling better about it since I talked to the president, and went to the registration on July 18th, but we still haven't heard anything either way.  I would like to know for SURE that we are members.  I don't think the school district will take me seriously if I call them up and tell them that the group is "pretty sure" I'm a member, do you?  So, I called the president back yesterday morning to make sure.  No one has called me back.  I talked with Hubby, and told him that I had found the other group around here, but yesterday was their last day for registration.  They have two mandatory meetings that you have to attend before becoming a member, and it was last night as well.  We went, talked to the pres., paid, and was told to fill out our paperwork that night.  They are doing it all online, so I guess paperwork isn't right, but I digress....We were told that we would hear something by the end of this week, or the beginning of next week at the latest.  I almost fainted!  An actual timeframe to hear something?! What a concept!!   They are also gonna send a letter to our school, letting them know we are homeschooling.  Yay!  That was another source of stress for me.  I have no idea how to deal with that, and the other group wanted me to do it.  Ugh!  I could have kissed that lady when she told me that!  LOL!!!  Maybe not, but I did have to restrain from hugging a complete stranger!

Anyway, I am so glad that this summer is coming to a close!  I hope everyone else has had a wonderful time with their families, and I look forward to sharing some actual School Related blogs with you!  Thanks for letting me whine vent about this, I needed it!

Crazy!

That is how I am right now, not to mention life in general!  I am stressed out, and over tired, and I don't even feel as if I've got anything to show for it!  Ugh! The kitchen is almost finished, but having to do everything on the weekends, or when the kids are in bed makes it ever so slow!  We finally got the new floor in, and now I've moved on to painting the moldings.  We have to replace most of the quarter rounds at the floor.  They've been there for 10 yrs., and weren't all that happy about coming up!  We have replaced the drawers, but there is still kitchen stuff scattered around the house.  I was hoping to have the house nice and organized by the time we started school, but it's worse than it was before!  It's driving me.....well, you know!

And speaking of school.....I'm getting nervous again.  I finally heard from our group.  They had tried early registration this year, and didn't like it.  They're normal registration drive is the 17th, so we haven't been voted in, but at least I know that she still has our stuff.  She says that she dosen't see a problem with us, and she encouraged me to come to registration to look over the class schedule, and the field trip list, so I feel like we're in.  Thank goodness!  I was really getting worried about that one!  We just won't be "official" til they vote on us.

The kids have started on some workbooks that we have had laying around for awhile. I thought it might be a good idea to start warming up the brains a little before we actually start the year. We bought Computer Monster a 3rd grade workbook from school to see if he could do some of the stuff in it, just for giggles, and he's actually doing very well!  Moongazer loves hers!  It's just one of those kindergarten ones you can get at Wal-Mart.  We are skipping around to do stuff that interests her.  She was a little upset yesterday because I didn't feel too hot, and they didn't do any "homework", as she calls it.  I sure hope she keeps that joy of doing the work!  Ha Ha!

The beach trip was fun, although there were 9 of us crammed into a two bedroom condo on the 14th floor!  We went with my Sister-in-law, and her family.  It was fun!  Our oldest nephew spent two whole days with us!  He's 20, and we don't get to see him a whole lot, so we really enjoyed it.  As did the kids, they love both him and his brother.  I have found the house that we will build when we win the lottery!  We went to Myrtle Beach, and while there, hit Huntington Beach State Park.  They have the ruins of Atalaya, the winter house of the Huntingtions ( Anna Hyatt Huntington was a sculptor ) there, and it's awesome!  It's something to see if you ever get down that way!  Although, on the way back from checking out the beach, I managed to step on a nail!  Ouch!  It was a nice break from all of the reality here at home, though, so I'm glad we went.

I still haven't managed to catch up with everyone, but I'm hoping to in the next few days!  I hope you all are having a wonderful summer, and good luck in your upcoming school year!  Hopefully, I'll be back soon!

Soooo Tired!

Ahhhhh!!!  I can't believe it's been so long since I've blogged!!!  Things are crazy around here!  Let's see.............

We got started on the kitchen, then things got off schedule!  Isn't it always that way?! We are still working on it, and my mantra is, "At least it's getting done, at least it's getting done!"  I should have expected that it would take longer than we originally though, but it is still a little shocking that it isn't finished.  Oh well!

We got the trampoline together, but we had a bolt that was too short, so the kids weren't getting to play on it like they had hoped.  We were planning on heading to Lowe's to see if we could find a replacement, but hadn't gotten around to it ( working on the kitchen, don't you know ), when a huge thunderstorm hit over night.  Can anyone guess what happened?  Anyone......anyone.......?  The trampoline BLEW AWAY!!!!  Well, not away, actually just around to the side yard, where the encloser caught the playset, and it whipped around like a rag doll!!!  The carnage was horrible!!!  It's folded like a giant, 14 ft. taco, and a couple of the legs were nearly ripped off!  No hope for it whatsoever.   I feel so bad for the kids!

And here's the topper, you guys!  We have LICE!!!!  Well, HAD, hopefully!  I've been doing laundry for 3 days straight!!!  And, the dryer had decided that it's had enough, and dosen't want to cooperate anymore.  Luckily, it's just the dryer tube at the back, and the hubby is going to try and find another clamp for it. It just a pain, since I have to keep an eye on it everytime I dry clothes ( or sheets, or pillows, or..... ).

We are heading to the beach for the week on Saturday, to get away for a bit, and boy and I glad!  I hope everyone is doing well, and I'll try and catch up with everyone's blog soon!

Hope you all have a great 4th!!!

Catching up, and our Summer program

Let's see here.....what have we been up to?  Oh, that's right............It's our first official day of Summer Vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yay!!!  Computer Monster's last day was yesterday, and although he wasn't all that happy about it, I am thrilled!!!! Computer Monster really liked his teacher this year, and it was hard for him to leave her! The hubby and I spent a good part of the day yesterday, putting together the kids new trampoline.  That is sort of our "Yay, no more school!" present to them. Today was a total veg day.  We slept in, had muffins for breakfast, watched some mind-rotting cartoons, did some chores, took a nap, it was great!  We are heading to Atlanta in the morning to spend the day at the Aquarium.  I'm so excited!  We love aquariums!  We are also planning on redoing our kitchen as a last hoorah before the hubby heads back to work.  So, we will be uber busy this weekend!  We have new countertops, flooring, a ceiling fan.  Not to mention pushing a cabinet up against the wall, painting, and having another pantry built!  Whew!  We had the school's Spring Fling, and the kids sang.  Computer Monster got two awards this year, so we had to attend Awards Night.  He was on the A honor roll all year, and was voted by his class to win the Citizenship award.  My camera is picky about taking pictures indoors, so the pix didn't come out all that well.  Luckily, the hubby videoed the whole thing!

This afternoon, I realized that maybe I should be blogging a little more about school.  But, since we haven't technically started yet, how about my thoughts on some of the summer plans we have?  I want the kids to relax over the summer, since they were in PS, but I don't want them to totally veg, you know?  Here's what I thought...........Computer Monster now wants a Solar System theme in his room, so I came up with a great arts and crafts project for us to do.  We will be making paper mache' planets ( well, just halves, really ) to hang on his wall, and learning about them as we make them.  Cheap, fun, and a good way to add some education!  Also, since Moongazer is the crafty diva she is, I'm going to let her make her own flash cards.  I'm hoping that since she made them, she will want to use them more.  And Manners!  We will be working on our manners over the summer.  Not that we are disgusting, raised in a barn, sort of people....but we could use some work.   I'm going to be looking for a book that I found over on Cahanbury's blog!  It sounds like it has manners that I never really thought of!  I would link you to it, but I have no idea how to do that!  LOL!!!!  So...that's all I have for right now.  I'd better get myself to bed, seeing as how we have an early day tomorrow!  I'll post pics. when I get the chance!

Have a great weekend!!!!

P.S.  Moongazer has been Night Terror Free since she started napping in the afternoon again!  Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Thanks for the support!

Night Terrors and the Moongazer

Unfortunately, this is not the title to my long awaited, bestselling novel, it's what's been going on the last couple of weeks with Moongazer.  For those of you who have never had a child with Night Terrors, its is freakishly scary!  She has had 3 episodes so far.

The first time she did this, the "Calm Mother" part of the brain got kicked out of the room pretty quickly.....I freaked a bit.  This actually happens a lot, so I'm starting to wonder if I even have the "Calm Mother" part of the brain! She was sitting up, shaking, crying, and talking incoherently, and I couldn't get her to calm down.  It scared me to death, so I called the hubby ( between sobs from me ) to come help. You really have to experience it to know how truly scary this stuff is. We finally got her calmed down, gave her some ice cream, and let her sit in the living room with us for awhile.   Fortunately, she is not the bloodcurdling scream edition!  A few days later, it happened again, only this was a lighter episode.  I managed to stay calm ( maybe it is buried in there somewhere! ), and get her calmed down a bit.  I asked her if she wanted to sleep with me and the hubby, and she agreed.  She got out of bed, walked out of her room on her own two feet, and then proceeded to walk straight into the hallway wall!  And I mean, there was no hesitation whatsoever!  That is when that little light bulb, came on in my head.  She wasn't really awake, she couldn't be.  I mean, my poor dd is a very clumsy girl, but she wouldn't go that far!  Well, she was awake once she hit the wall, but I realized that she hadn't been awake during the actual episode. All of that pre-pregnancy gorging on info finally kicked in, and the word "Night Terrors" popped into my head.  But, I still wasn't sure.  Last night's episode sealed the deal.  She sat up in bed, and was crying, shaking, and talking incoherently again.  I held her and soothed her until she actually woke up.  I could tell the difference immediately.  She snuggled with me, and said that she couldn't remember why she was crying.  So, this morning, after taking Computer Monster to school, I jumped on the computer and looked it up.  Sure enough, there it was.......

Night Terrors occur in the deepest part of sleep, where as Nightmares occur during REM sleep.  Night Terrors are triggered by stress, or the child being over-tired.  And guess what.....Moongazer had stopped taking her afternoon naps as of a few weeks ago!  Bingo!!!!!  Can you guess who took a nap today!?  Yep, she wasn't very happy about it, but she will have to get back into that routine until she grows out of them.  I'm not sure if they will stop just as suddenly as they started, but I sure do hope so!

Well, off to bed with me!  Thanks for listening!

Spring Cleaning.....continues

Whew!  We've been pretty busy around here lately!  And we have one kid down, and one to go!!!! Yay!!!  Moongazer's last day of school was Friday. Computer Monster still has another week and 3 half days ( don't even get me started! ) left.  I'm still undecided about our group, so I'll be emailing the other one in our area this week.

We cleaned out the Master Closet, and had a yard sale, then we cleaned out the kitchen, and had a yard sale.  Next is the attic, under the beds ( I forgot about those! ), my craft room, and the garage!  I'm exhausted just thinking about it!  But, the house is starting to come together.  My craft room is the big one. I've been trying to do it bit by bit, but that just seems to help me put it off more.  I'm just going to have to dig in and do it all at once.  Half of it will be for my crafts, and the other half will be for our homeschool stuff.

Wow!  Looking back at that paragraph makes it sound like our house was so cluttered you couldn't even walk!  It isn't that bad, honestly.....we had the yard sales with my Sister-in-law, who is trying to clean out her house as well.  I'm not gonna say you couldn't tell we had too much.....but it isn't as horrible as it sounded.  LOL!!!

Oh, and Computer Monster has to go to school Memorial Day as a snow make up day, can you believe it?!  I'm not happy about this, let me tell you!  They got President's Day off, and we have 3 half days before they get out.......why not just have them go a full day instead of the halves, and then get out for summer?  I don't understand the thinking behind this at all, but I do know that it messes up our Memorial Day weekend!  We could have gone off for a long weekend somewhere close ,to camp or something, but nooooooo!  Oh well, this will be the last time I have to worry about something like this, so I shouldn't stress too much.

Have a great weekend, all!

Surgeries and Frustrations

Things have been a wee bit crazy around here lately, and I'm starting to get a little frustrated with the hs group thing!  The hubby and my Dad are both recovering from their surgeries, and doing great.  The hubby only had to do one week of PT, and my Dad is now walking around without his cane.  The kids have loved having the hubby home with us, but I'm dreading when he goes back to work!

As far as the hs group thing............we went to the round table meeting, and had decided that we'd just pay the dues that night instead of sending the stuff.  We handed over the check, and I was soooo excited!  Then, she hands me another peice of paper and says that she added it recently.  Fine, okay, so I go to fill it out, and I find out that they want references!  What?!  She says that they had some trouble with a family not too long ago, and they felt that it would be safer this way.  *Sigh*  I'm horrible with memorizing phone numbers, so I am having to email her names and numbers.   We're pretty much in, but I'd like to know for sure, you know?  Ah well, maybe sometime in the future I'll be able to announce that we are "official".

Teaparty

The homeschool group Teaparty was this weekend!!!  Unfortunately, we still aren't legal.    We were running late for the meeting, and forgot the checkbook!  Ugh!  I couldn't believe it!  We brought the paperwork home, filled it out, and I'm hoping to get it in the mail tomorrow.  I was so looking forward to being able to blog that we are official, but it will have to wait, I guess.  Luckily, the address is in the same city, so it won't take long for them to get the stuff.  Hopefully, I'll have news later this week!

We were invited to come to their last round table meeting next month, and they hold their co-op classes right down the street from us!  I'm really excited!

Well, this ended up being a short blog, didn't it?  I was doing a little bit of volunteer homework for Moongazer's teacher, and it took a little longer than I had planned.  I'll blog more later in the week, and add some new pictures.  Off to bed!  Good Night!

What a week!

My poor, poor hubby has been sick this week!  He has never been this sick for this long, so it's been a major deal at the house.  The kids and I went to stay with my parents this past weekend since it was my Dad's birthday, and hubby had to work.  He called Saturday night, and said that he wasn't feeling too good.  When we got home Sunday afternoon, he was running a temp. of 101!  He woke up Monday and went to work, but around 2 a.m. he woke up complaining that his ear was killing him.  We scoured the house for ear drops, but there weren't any.  He read that he could use white vinegar, but I had used it all on Sunday to weed the garden....oops!  He ended up moving into the livingroom so that I could go back to sleep, but he was in sooo much pain!  He left for the doctor's office Tues. morning, as the kids and I left for school.  Come to find out, he has a Middle Ear Infection!!!  He has slept since Tues., ran a fever off and on since Saturday night, and has dizzy spells.  He has felt a bit better today, and is hoping to go to work in the morning.  I think he's finally kicked the fever, he hasn't felt warm all day, and he has actually been moving around!  He hasn't been eating much but soup, since it hurts his ear to chew.  I sure hope he gets better soon, he's so pitiful!

2 days til our homeschool group teaparty!  I'll post after we go and let you know how it went.  I'm so excited!!!  Good Night!

Confession Time

Okay, here it is........

I hope that with homeschooling, I will have to do less laundry!

There it is, out in the open.......whoo, that feels good!  I really do alot of laundry!  I'm sure not as much as those of you with more than 2 kids, but, wow, I mean, it's alot for me!  I am doing at least 2 loads a day to keep from getting behind!  Not to mention the new stuff that has to be washed, either by itself, or with the hubby's dark uniforms.  I hate it when I accidentally wash something new with other stuff, and it runs!  Ugh!

My extremely handsome son, with his thick, dark hair, those lovely eyelashes, and just the right amount of "speckles" ( Moongazer's word ) on his face....is the messiest eater I have ever seen in my entire life!!!  LOL!!!!  I love him to death, but when he gets home from school....wow!!!!  He can only wear an outfit once!  I've started making his lunch again ( got lazy there for awhile ), and that seems to have helped a bit.  And with them being in ps, and all the germs that go around over there.....well, I just can't stand for them to wear school clothes over again.  Have you ever been in a 4K class??  Oh.....My......gosh!  The amount of bodily fluids that fly around in there should be illegal!  LOL!!!!  Thanks to my volunteering, I was sicker this year than I have ever been!!!

Soooo, hopefully ( and I'm sure my machines are wishing the same thing ) I will have less clothes to wash, seeing as how we won't be going somewhere every single day.  I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I don't think that I'll be holding my breath!  LOL!!!!

Tales from a technophobe.....

Seriously, you guys, I am horrible with electronics!  This morning is a prime example!

I have finally decided to get serious about losing weight ( that's a whole other blog! ), so I wanted to start doing one of my workout videos.  Notice the plural?    Well, I have to do some fiddling with the remotes, and end up doing something wrong, as usual!  I had to call the hubby at work to have him walk me through fixing it.  *sigh*   We finally figure out what I've done....wrong remote, oops!......and I sweat my tush off.  But, wait, that isn't all!  Later, I decide to download some pictures from my camera, so I switch the computer on.  I had tried to dowload some stuff from our new printer to get it working last night, but was having trouble.  Do you sense a theme here?  Well, my wallpaper comes up, but nothing else.  Hmmmmmm....maybe I should shut it off?  Ooo, that didn't work either, what now?  Hmmmm, I'll try clicking a couple of times on the wallpaper, and maybe a genie will appear and help me.....oookayyyyy, maybe not.  I decided to just leave it for the hubby ( our resident computer guru ) when he gets home from work.  I tell him what has happened, and he goes over to the thing, presses the power button for a minute, and it shuts down!  Grrrrr!!!!  I tried that and it didn't work!  I don't think this thing likes me very much!  Maybe it's all the griping I do about it????  Naaahhhhh, that can't be it......

Hmmmmm....

So, I'm sitting in the work room at school today, cutting things out for Moongazer's teacher, when Computer Monster's old kindergarten teacher walks in.  She is one of the best teachers I have ever come across!  She's funny, loves what she does, loves the kids, has alot of fun, and is always postive.  She has been telling me all year that she hopes to get Moongazer next year.  Well, I decided to finally come clean with her.  I had put it off to make sure I wouldn't chicken out again.  There's nothing like announcing some big plan, then turning around and eating crow!  Believe me, I know!  She looked.....I don't know what she looked really.  It actually made me feel a little bad.  Not, "I changed my mind and will keep them in school" bad, but bad nontheless.  I quickly told her that our decision had nothing to do with the teachers at the school, and she looked releived, but she seemed to leave the room kind of quick.  She told me to email her, she had some awesome websites for me, and that if we needed anything to let her know.  I really hope that I didn't hurt her feelings!  I would never forgive myself!  Maybe I just caught her off guard, or something?  I don't know......

I'm not ashamed to tell people that we are future homeschoolers.  Heck, I've already made it through my first negative reaction!  I just don't want her to think something that isn't true.

Ramblings...

Today was the hubby's day off, and I didn't really feel all that great this morning.  Thank goodness he took the kids to school, then went back to pick up Moongazer ( she goes 1/2 a day )!  I slept all morning!  After getting up and moving around, getting something to eat and a shower, I felt better.  He is such a good husband!

He has decided to go ahead with the surgery on his knee.  It seems to be getting worse, so he called the doctor's office today, to see if they would set him up.  He is going in on the 30th of this month.  I can't believe they got him in so quickly!  I thought for sure he'd be limping and in pain for another month!  Yay!  We are hoping that this will "fix" him.  He has been miserable for a good month now.  We will be praying!

Compter Monster had a field trip today, and enjoyed it.  They have this thing, Accelerated Reader, where they earn points for books they've read....I'm not too thrilled with it, seeing as how I would like him to read because he enjoys it, and not because he gets a prize for it.....but, you know.  *shrug*  They had to reach 8pts. to be able to go to the movies today.  We picked him up early to do some goofing off, since he missed his actual class time by being at the movies.  After lunch is just "filler", really, so I have no problem getting him out early.

Moongazer's teacher is getting close to her due date, and we are getting excited for her!  I really have to get off my tush and find her a baby gift!!  I found some really cute things on Etsy, but I just can't make up my mind!

Well, that's it for tonight....I really need to get to bed, gotta volunteer in Computer Monster's class in the morning!  Night!

Spring Cleaning!

Phase One:  Clean out the Kids rooms!  I went through all of their clothes, bagging winter and anything that was too small, or I just didn't care for anymore.  I did have to keep out a few of the winter things, just in case.  The weather down here can't seem to make up it's mind!  One day it's in the 70's, the next, it's 50.  Argh!  Then, we went through the toys.  I had bought these small crates to keep in the laundry room so that they can help.  I give them both a crate, tell them what I want, and they fill them up.  It's nice not to have to make so many trips from the bedrooms to the washer!  So, I gave them the crates, and told them that they could only keep what would fit.  I did let them keep one big toy apeice, but everything else is outta here!  The bedrooms are so much neater now!  And Moongazer can actually close the top to her toybox!  I also went through the books, and got rid of the ones that we don't really read anymore.  I read about this charity that sends books to Africa, so we might send them over there.  I'll have to look into it a bit more, though.

Our house is painfully cluttered, due to a shortage of storage space ( I'm brainstorming ), and the fact that two Pack Rats married!  LOL!!!!!  I decided that with us starting to homeschool, I just had to do something.  I'm hoping that by the end of the summer, it will be taken care of.  Wish me luck!

43 days and counting!

OOOO....two blogs in one night!  Lucky you!  The other one was a sort of spur of the moment thing.  This is the one I had planned.

Anywhoo.......we are counting down the days til the kids get out of school.  I have it on the dry erase board on the fridge!   We started in the 50's, but lost count while on vacation.....oops! Moongazer will actually get out a wee bit earlier than Computer Monster, but not by much.  I'm thinking of having a "No More School!" party for the kids.  How would I theme that, though?  Broken clocks to represent the freedom of our days.......oooo, a miniture Earth in an Oyster Shell!  The world is our oyster from now on, you know!     Hmmmm....I'm liking the sound of this!  LOL!!

I was starting to feel bad about just not giving a flip anymore, but then I talked to Computer Monster's teacher on my volunteer day.  The poor thing is counting down right along with us, and is even more ready than we are for it to be over!  She has had a hard year with the school system, and my heart goes out to her everyday.  I pray that she finds a place that will let her shine!

All right! You caught me.....

I have started on blog on Blogger, too.  I had heard that it was super easy, and I know a few people who have blogs there......so I started one up.  It's just a test run, really.  I just wanted to see how "easy" it was.  It's pretty easy, but I don't know if I like it or not.  It just seems like a bunch of random people with blogs (which is what it is, but wait for the insight to follow) floating around in cyberspace.  Homeschoolblogger seems more like a community.  We are all here for the same reason, and it feels a little more "homey" to me.  Yes, I'm one of those "obvious insight" people!  It takes me a minute to see the things that others have known about for awhile, LOL!!!  Just smile and nod like the Hubby does, and I'll stop rambling after a bit.  I was told that if you found someone with Homeschooling in their "interests" on their profile, to click it and it will show you all the others with the same thing.  There were 3500 people with Homeschooling in their "interests", but they are all sort of random.  Some don't even talk about their families, and some don't talk at all, they just post pictures.  *shrug*  I don't know, it just dosen't feel all that comfortable to me.  We'll see how long I can keep repeating myself, shall we?

April Fool's!!!!

Here is my April Fool's dinner for the family.  I'm an awful cook, so for this to have actually come out right....WhooooHooooo!!!  The "cupcakes" are actually single serving meatloaves, and the "meatloaf" is Cocoa Rice Crispy Treats!  The cupcakes look awful, but tasted really good!  The "meatloaf" looked awesome in the pan!!  The hubby thought it was the real one when he got home from work.  He thought I had made a back-up, just in case the little ones didn't go over so well!  LOL!!!!  Unfortunately, the "meatloaf" is extremely sweet, what with the cocoa crispies, the dried pineapple peices, and the fruit roll-ups.....ugh!  We couldn't eat a whole lot of that.  The kids thought it was cool, but I think the hubby liked it the most!  He bragged on it all night.  I'm not sure if it's because it was cool, or because I actually tried something new in the kitchen.  I'm not a good cook, so I don't experiment a whole lot.  I find something I can do, and I stick with it, LOL!!!

Why do you have to rest up after a Vacation?

Whew!  We got home from Charleston last night, and boy am I pooped!  We decided to have a "rest day" before the kids go back to school.  And rest we did!  The only place we went was my in-laws for dinner.  We stayed in our jammies most of the day, LOL!

I'm not looking forward to getting up in the morning, although, the kids didn't let us sleep in while we were gone!  It's so weird how during the week, I have trouble getting them up....but on the weekends?  Forget about it!  They are up at 6, or before, every time.

The beach was fun, although it was a little chilly!  Moongazer loved it, and put up a fuss when it was time to leave.  She loves the water, and was upset that it was too cold to swim.

We took the kids to the Children's Museum yesterday before we left.  It was really cool!  It's small, but I enjoyed it alot because there wasn't a whole lot of people there, and we were able to actually do things.  The kids had a blast!

We had a good time, and it was a nice break from our everyday.  Now, it's back to the ole grindstone!  *heavy sigh*

Hello from Charleston!

We got here late Tuesday night, so we pretty much just went to bed after checking in.  Yesterday, we headed out to Magnolia Plantation for the day.  The weather has been great, so we've really enjoyed being outside.  We walked through the lovely gardens, rode the boat tour and the tram tour, and was able to see alot of alligators!  The house was beautiful!

Today was Charlestown Landing.  Unfortunately, it wasn't as cool as we thought it was going to be.....which happens!  The kids were bored senseless!  Oh well, live an learn, right!  We ate hot dogs at Jack's Cosmic Dogs, in Mt. Pleasant for lunch.  We had seen it on "Feasting On Asphalt" with Alton Brown, and were excited to try it!  It was cool!

Tomorrow we hit the beach for some fun in the sand for the little one.  She is dying to play in the sand!  It's been fun!
