Homestead Happenings 7/10

Posted in On The Farm

Not too much excitement.

Dh was working yesterday on the hitch to the baler. Don't think he got it all fixed, but hopefully soon he will.

Dad seems to be heading out to cut more hay. Lets hope the baler gets fixed so the hay doesn't sit too long...lol.

We opended up the eastern pasture for the horses, no animals of ours have been up there since the cows about 5 yrs ago. They have tons to eat up there. Of course they are behind the barn stomping up because of the flies and such.

I'll have to get out there with moms help and spray them down. They had the sound the spray makes, silly horses. Some are fine without and issue, but a couple don't have halters, might have to put them back on just to be able to spray them. Then maybe they can go out more often to eat.

We wormed them last saturday. I had weighed them a couple days b4. So that's all written down, 3 weeks from when we did it we have to do it again. So I'll get to weigh them all over again too see if they need more or the same amount.

All the fun, fun stuff......lol.

LOL

Just kidding, they have this paper tape measure, with weight on one side and hands high on the other. It gives you the best estimate

LOL about picking them up. That gave me quite a chuckle. I had visions of you coaxing them on to a scale.

That is very interesting about the chart. That would make a cool blog entry...take pictures next time. I'm interested. (Nothing like being bossy)

About Me

Everyday ramblings about my family life, with my husband and son, on the farm. I'm Emily, mom to one son who I'll refer to as CJ. Married for 12 years been together almost 14 years. We live in North Central, Minnesota in the boonies. We are on our 4th year in Homeschooling and its been fun and a great descision. Sometimes my posts will relate to personal issues I'm dealing with while trying to give my son the best education I can. We've tried several things along this short journey of ours and hoping somethings will stay or we'll find things that work better soon.
