Reading Talk

Posted in Books or Movies

I've been reading more. I go in spurts for reading.

I think this time it was started by reading. Confessions of a Shopaholic. I have a couple others of the Authors to read as well...lol.

Then I went into the library and came across Lauraine Snellings books.

I grabbed a bunch thinking it was all the same series. And alas it wasn't I had wanted to read her series called  Red River of the North. But didn't have book one.

Instead I had book one of Dakotah Treasures ~ Called Ruby.

Great book BTW and am looking forward to reading more in that series as well.

So then I started Red River of the North and am currently on book 3 with book 4 waiting. I'm sure I'll be overdue as I've been reading slow lately.

I'm looking forward to reading all of Lauraine Snellings books.

If you have other books written in the time period as these (!800's) please share them with me as I'd love to read more written in that time period of living on the land and living the pioneer way of sorts.

Tracie Peterson has a series set in that time period and a Montana cattle ranch. Forget what they are called.

Al Lacy writes a lot of westerns and I think he writes with his wife sometimes.

LS books. Have you read Blessing in Disguise in the Red River series or is that number 4. That one had me laughing so hard I cried.

Sep. 9, 2006 - HELLO

Posted by proudmommaof3
Should have stopped by and said hello along time ago but didn't and finally I am making it back here.
Stephen Bly writes some good books. He has a boys series called The Nathan T. Riggins Western Adventure Series. My husband read them to our boys (6 and 3) last winter. Even though they are geared toward old kids (9 -13) my boys loved them. The oldest would go outside and act out the latest adventure Nathan would be on. The whole family got into it and was very disappointed when it was over.
I see you had to use some bribery to get your son to get his school work done. I have been doing that lately as well. I have been using ice cream though. Hey it works. I read how one lady would tape a $ bill on the back side of a page and when it was done they would get the money. I like the back ground paper you have for your blog site as well.
Hope you come and visit.

Lori Wick has great books -- not quite 1800s, though, I think.
Francine Rivers is excellent. I am currently reading 'Redeeming Love' -- it is a page turner, to say the least.

:o)

Happy reading!
Blessings, Beckie

About Me

Everyday ramblings about my family life, with my husband and son, on the farm. I'm Emily, mom to one son who I'll refer to as CJ. Married for 12 years been together almost 14 years. We live in North Central, Minnesota in the boonies. We are on our 4th year in Homeschooling and its been fun and a great descision. Sometimes my posts will relate to personal issues I'm dealing with while trying to give my son the best education I can. We've tried several things along this short journey of ours and hoping somethings will stay or we'll find things that work better soon.
