Draw Write Now or any drawing curriculum/book suggestions

Has anyone used these books? I was considering getting these for my son to have some drawing. I know he likes to draw but being the literal child that he is, as I talked about in a previous post he struggles. So I wanted to get some book or curriculum for drawing. I think if we did some he'd get the hang of it and really take off. I've looked around but just don't know what to pick up.....lol.

I know its not as realistic as I'd like to try for him but it would be a start. I'd really love to get stuff for teaching like perspective drawing and such, where you draw a cityscape on a corner type thing. I really don't know what its called. I just know we always had a blast in school with that kind of stuff. Basically I just need some drawing stuff. I"m sure there's stuff online but its harder for us to get things down or printed. So a book is a bit easier. So if anyone has used the Draw Write Now books or anything else for that matter please share your opinions with me. Not sure what book to use for my 11 year old either.

We love those books. You may also want to look at the Jan Brett drawing videos, they are free, and kids love them, some adults to. Leena

He might like Draw Write Now - it is very simple, so it might be "young" for him. Christian Liberty Press has a drawing book called "Line Upon Line" that is just pencil drawing, basically still life. It is inexpensive and basic, but is good for older kids right up to adults. The instructions are easy and it is all about drawing exactly what you SEE so might be really good for the literal kid. ;~) The video series by Thomas Kinkade/Alpha Omega LifePac is really good for elementary age kids as well, but of course is a bit more spendy.

About Me

Everyday ramblings about my family life, with my husband and son, on the farm. I'm Emily, mom to one son who I'll refer to as CJ. Married for 12 years been together almost 14 years. We live in North Central, Minnesota in the boonies. We are on our 4th year in Homeschooling and its been fun and a great descision. Sometimes my posts will relate to personal issues I'm dealing with while trying to give my son the best education I can. We've tried several things along this short journey of ours and hoping somethings will stay or we'll find things that work better soon.
