Doris the cat purred happily and curled up in the sunny window. She shivered a little when she thought about how long she'd lived in the streets as a skinny, stray cat. But that was then. Now she knew she would never again choose to wander about chasing mice like she used to. It would be fancy cat food for her from now on, served in a fancy glass dish. As old Mrs. Winn patted her soft coat, Doris stretched and hoped that life would always be this good!
I color-coded my endings, too. :)
Suddenly the big, ugly creature disappeared. Relief flooded over me as I found myself in my own bed. It'd all been just a dream. The memory of the creature's big, dark, gaping mouth opening up to swallow me and the dreadful, terrifying feeling that I was about to be eaten led me to the decision that maybe I wasn't quite ready to sleep without my night light.
I crept into my little sister's bedroom and tip-toed to her bed. As I watched her sleeping, so peaceful, I could still see the water rushing over her head, still feel the cold shock as I jumped in after her. I squeezed my eyes shut and opened them again. I was so relieved that she was all right.
"I hope that taught you not to play by the lake, sis," I whispered. As I turned to go, I resolved I would watch her more closely from now on.

Three graduates...practically all in a row! Luthien, Meggy T, and now Emma! Whoo-hoo! I'm excited to highlight you on the writing blog and place your avatar (with a link to your stories, if desired) on the sidebar "Graduates" Hall of Fame. :-)
Oh, by the way. You did a SUPER job on the endings. I loved the night-light one. You are very creative. May I use it as an example for the workshops I'm teaching next fall at the homeschool co-op? That's great that you did both endings. You have great potential, and yes, it's sad that you are finished. But you can comment (or put me on your e-mail list---I can't remember if I'm already on it or not!--AUGH! The brain's going, I'm afraid.) LOL If you do that I'll know to check in when you add to your stories (if you post them).
Here's what I need from you, if you agree (e-mail me privately): Don't PM me, as I don't check my messages unless I'm looking at students' lessons. You can just click the "e-mail me" button on the writing workshop blog.
1) The name you want on your certificate.
2) Your mailing address, if you want me to mail it. Or....if you prefer not to give that out, then I can e-mail the certificate, and you can print it out on light cardstock. It is a Microsoft Publisher 2000 document, so you'll want to check if your computer can handle that.
3) The picture you want for your avatar in the sidebar, along with the name you want under it.
4) The answers to these fun survey questions about the workshop...
--1) What was the main reason you decided to participate in the Writing Workshop?
2) Which lesson did you find to be the most helpful to the kind of writing you do, and why?
3) Which lesson was the most FUN and why?
4) Is there anything you learned from the writing workshop that you feel will "stick" with you the longest, and that you will really use when writing your stories? If so, what is it?
5) Where do you plan to go from here, writing-wise? (future plans for completing a story, etc. A title? A nutshell?) :-)
Hope to hear from you soon!
