August 10, 2008 - All that's left is to accept that it's over

Posted in My Day

I've gotta tell you a sad story about something that happened today. It was after church this morning, and we went over to the fellowship hall for a surprise birthday party for my friend KC. Anyway, I was in there when Jazlynn's cousin Kenneth comes in saying something about a smashed cat, so I asked him and he said there was a cat that had gotten run over and his back half was smashed and he was crawling around, dragging it behind him.... I asked where it was and he said it was outside under a car. So I start pleading "DO something Kenneth!" and we ran out there and I saw it... oh my gosh, it was SO sad and horrible. "Kenneth DO something! It can't just suffer!!" so he went to get his gun and after I was assured that the cat would die a sudden and immediate death, I ran inside and let him put the poor thing out of it's misery. The poor, poor thing... it was so sad, I almost cried and I'm still sad even just thinking about it.

I guess this story is kina sad to but not nearly as so... I had to sing in church tonight with HannahElizabeth and Jazlynn... it went okay, I guess. It was fun cuz she came over after church this morning to practice with us...

My mom and little sisters went to look at another house today... I don't know much about it but it's on some land so we could keep the animals there... I think we're gonna try to get an appointment to see it soon.

Btw, please pray for my Grandad who was supposed to have heart surgery, but I don't think he is after all. Thanks!

August 9, 2008 - Walk by faith, not by sight

Posted in My Day

Heyy everybodyy!!

Well, the first week of 11th grade is behind me. It's going pretty well, I guess. I really like Spanish but I'm doing a lot of it, three books at once, actually.

Wednesday we ran a bunch of errands before church..... yesterday we went to look at a house and then we went to the mall and I saw some friends there.... not much else has been going on. We looked a house today that I really like... not sure what will happen but everyone please pray that if it's God's will we'll be able to rent it, and if not, that He'll lead us to the right house for us right now. We just have to trust... for we walk by faith, not by sight.

Okayy if any of you haven't heard "Just a Dream" by Carrie Underwood, scroll down to the bottom of this page and look for it near the bottom of my playlist. I <3 it! It's really sad though.

Well I guess that's all for now, just thought I'd update you on my [boring] life.

<3,

_emy_

July 18, 2008 - Uh-oh, here we go again...

Posted in My Day

Yup, that's right... another crazy vid... this one is more... original though. And shorter. Anywho, here you are!

Yeah I guess I could give a regular update, huh? Well Wednesday we had church, which was really good. Today we had like a ton of errands to run... including picking up my new glasses (for when I'm not wearing contacts of course), picking up HannahElizabeth who spent the week with her friend Cass, going to Lana's old house/Tony's house to pick up a hoop skirt and beads and sequins they were getting rid of and I got to see Donor and Lola (dogs) and Fish (kitten), all really sweet. Tomorrow I'm going to the lake...

Anyway... I'm trying to make my posts more interesting but as you can tell it's not working. lol I need to remember the funny things that happen each day and post about them. Well it's getting sorta late and I guess I should go to bed.

Luv,

Emy

July 14, 2008 - Gather my insuffiecencies and place them in Your hand, place them in Your hand...

Posted in My Day

Hey guys,

What's up? Today we had Food Bowl practice here then went to town to drop HannahElizabeth off to stay a few days with Cass and then we went grocery shopping. Not very exciting. Oh, Saturday we went shopping and I got a pair of jeans on clearance for $2.35 but they were 0 long, which means, WAY too long, so I cut 'em and hemmed 'em to be capris! I also got a pair of black dress pants (same price) but they were too long too and so I hemmed them as well.

Here's a funny comic Meggy sent me:

Oh guess what!!! Ok, so this morning I was listening to Air1 and Coppelia was on and was talking about how cool the Air1 verse of the day is. It's Jeremiah 29:12-13. Well that was like super-cool, cuz first of all, Jeremiah 29:11 has always been a special verse to me (" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."). What a neat promise and reminder that God already knows what will happen. And then a few weeks ago I was asking God about something and He brought me to verse thirteen (" You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.") and I was just like, wow. "With ALL your heart". He also showed me several other verses that night that said very similar things. So that was so cool. And then just last night in youth class we were talking about prayer and Luke asked us to each look up a Scripture about prayer, and I came up with Jeremiah 29:12 ("Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you "). I thought it was really cool, cuz God's promising to hear us and answer us. So, I called in to Air1 and got to talk to Coppelia and I told her all that and she asked my name and location and then played what I'd said on air!!! It was sooo cool. I'm famous now!! lol I recorded it on my cell phone so that's awesome!!

I posted something about Sissy and Boo on my writing blog. Click here to read it.

Anyway, I'd better go.

Love ya'll!!!

July 8, 2008 - For God to focus on anything but Himself would be idolatry.

Posted in My Day

Hey guys,

We have kids day camp at church this week, so that's cool. Yesterday we took the kids bowling and today we took them to the park to play mini golf. Pretty fun. More on that and pics later. So, I've been busy the past two days... I have a couple 5th and 6th grade girls for small group time, they're easy and so smart. But I have a 7yo and 5yo girls whom I've sorta adopted responsibilty for... they're a ton of fun but a lot to keep up with. ;) I love being around kids, though... I learn so much from them. And they always say the cutest things. Yesterday the 5yo wrote down a "question" to put in the "I wonder...." bag. I looked at it and saw only a few letters so I asked her what the question was, what it said. "I don't know!" she replied. "I can't read!" lol

Ok here's a little video thing I made with clips of fireworks I filmed with my phone Friday. So nothing special or high quality but it was fun. The last clips are the best so persevere. ;P

Well that's all for now, I've got to get to bed sometime and I still have other things to do... I'm also working on getting a bunch of stuff ready for the fair next month. Comment me!!! (I <3 peeps who leave me comments ;D) ~*Kiki*~ (that's what the 5yo lil grl ((Boo)) calls me)

June 17, 2008 - The best thing that could be happening...

Posted in My Day

Ok, now that I've been begged to post, I guess I will. lol jk

It has been a while, sooo... since then I've had Food Bowl practices, church services, spent 20 minutes or so looking through a horse pasture for a lost horseshoe with no "luck" (get it?) and getting lots of scratches from the thorns, etc. VBS started yesterday, so I've been really busy with that. I'm in the drama, helping with some motions for the songs, and helping with kindergarteners. So yeah, kina tight, but it works ok, b/c even though I'm the only helper for the kindergarten teacher, we only had 6 kids Monday and 4 today. So I stay to help with the class time, then practice drama and music while my kids are doing snacks and crafts. Today I had to have fake spiders on my back and start screaming and freaking out, lol. Kinda fun actually. :P

There's not a lot else to say. Tomorrow I'm going to Sarah's house before VBS (yes, that's early) b/c two of my sisters have 4H competitions and it's early.

Well, I guess that's all. Peace love and joy out,

Emy

June 7, 2008 - Crucify my desires, all that I claim as my own...

Posted in My Day

Hi everyone,

Don't have a ton of time to write but I wanted to let you know that I'm back from camp. It was a great week and I wasn't ready to leave. I believe God really did great things, in our group and in the whole camp. He really spoke to me in so many ways; through Mike Keahbone, the camp pastor this week, through Craig and Addey King and their band (the worship leaders), through our wonderful youth group leaders and other sponsors, through my tract time leader, through my friends and fellow campmates, and through His word. Although I can't tell you definite things He did, I know He was working. I know there were a lot of salvations, recommitments, and changed lives in the camp this week, several in our group.

Quick review of the week...

Monday we all met at the church and got everything ready and loaded, then headed out. When we reached Kiamichi (don't ya just love that unpronouncable word? lol) we all chose our bunks and got settled, had a meeting, then we were free to do whatever. I uhh... walked with MellyBelly to the prayer garden which is awesome and sooo pretty. It's old and getting worn down but it's really neat. There's wooden pews facing a platform which has a cross, an angel, and a sign that reads... something about the hills echoing something? I can't remember. It overlooks woods and hills in the distance and is such a pretty sight. Late afternoonish we got word that we couldn't shower or use the sinks or anything b/c the camp was having a problem and in order to fix it needed us to not put water down the drains. As you can imagine no one was too happy about the situation. We just hung out and stuff until dinner then got ready and went to service, had cabin devos, and went to bed.

Tuesday it was early rising for no showers and breakfast, meeting with our sister church from Gentry and splitting up into prayer groups with them, going to service, eating lunch, getting all crazy for rec, eating lunch, hanging out and watching basketball and volleyball games, at which we got word that we could finally shower, dinner, service, cabin devos, bed. Tuesday afternoon my eyes started bothering me and were hurting real bad and I figured that dust had blown into my eye and scratched it b/c of my contacts. I took the contact out of the eye that was bothering me the most and our cabin nurse, Ms. Tammy, patched it for me and said it should get better if I left it on for about 24 hours.

Wednesday we had breakfast, signed up for tract times (which are classes, btw), and went to tract time. Lady and I took Defending Your Faith. It was really good. There were eleven or twelve people not including the leader, and all but two and the leader were from our group, so the get-to-know-each-other game at the beginning didn't do us much good, lol. Then the leader did a game thing for an example, he sent Joel and another guy to a different room and told us the rules. The two guys were salesmen and had to try to "sell" us the product, but they wouldn't know what it was, only we would. So we would ask questions, such as "Does it smell good?", "Would you eat it?", "Does it last forever?", "Can you reuse it?", and so on and so forth, and they had to answer them without knowing what they were talking about. The product was a roll of toilet paper. It was pretty funny but really good to show that we can't sell something we don't know about, that's why you have to know what you believe before you can share your faith. Then we got into apologetics a little. After that we went to service and then lunch, rec (which I couldn't play b/c my eye was still bothering me and was still patched so I took pics for BritterBear with her camera), hangin' out, dinner, service, cabin devos, bed. (yeah, you're starting to get the routine down. lol) Actually after service that night Mr. Les and Bro. Tim took me to the camp nurse b/c my eyes were still really hurting but she didn't know what was wrong with them either so we went back and our cabin nurse helped me rinse it and patch it again.

Thursday we had breakfast, tract time again which was really good again, service, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know it all. Actually you don't, b/c we had ropes course instead of rec that day and even though I couldn't do it it was fun watching. My eyes still hurt so we kept the worst one patched. After the evening service we had cabin devos then went back for the midnight service which was really cool, Voice of the Martyrs were there and called a brother in Christ who is from... unfortunately I don't remember, but it was another country and he had been persecuted for Christ and he talked to us, and they told us about some other persecuted Christians and handed out bookmarks with reminders to pray for different countries and then we split into prayer groups and prayed, then headed back to the cabins and took precautions for the tornado that was supposed to hit and Lady was kind enough to let me sleep with her since she knows I'm terrified of storms, and you better believe I was praying hard all night but it didn't even rain, praise the Lord!

Friday we got to sleep in, then had breakfast, service, etc, etc. Stuphy and I didn't play rec so we talked. We had all the regular, although it was sad being the last day. At the evening service they gave out the awards and we won a spirit stick which we pretty much expected since we won a spirit stick for each day that we did rec. Our Senior high boys placed first in basketball if I'm not mistaken and I think we had some other teams place.  I slept with Stuphy and we surprisingly didn't laugh too much (we have a disorder where we can't even sit by each other in church w/o laughing).

This morning we got up and packed and did a lot of cleaning and then left. *sniff* So sad. I took a nap when I got home though and I'm still really tired. My eyes are doing better so hopefully they'll be fine and I won't have to go to the eye dr. Monday.

This was a good year, but a year of injuries for us. We weren't there but two or three hours before someone had to go the emergency room for a bad splinter under their fingernail and after waiting and waiting they weren't able to get it out, but he did get it out after a day or two. We had another boy sprain his collar bone playing football. We had scraped knees and I cut my hand on some rocks. Stuphy tripped in the dark and hit her eye on a root, and there was my whole eye situation. Two people sprained a toe. There was perhaps more but that's all that will come to me right now. It's almost funny, lol.

Well I better go. Tomorrow we have church and then we're meeting early to practice a song that we sang at camp that some of the guys picked out on the guitar and some of us are singing, including me, for the evening service since it's camp-focused. It should be pretty cool.

Oh, and I have an accomplishment!! I learned to play ping-pong (sorta) thanks to "Ebenezer" forcing me to learn. lol They're still trying to teach me chess but it's not going so well. Oh and I learned to play the card game speed which is awweessoommee!!

Mucho Amo,
EMY
