Emily's Escapades

Mar. 10, 2008 -

Hello! I'm finally back. Time is passing soooooooooo fast! Gloria will be one on March 31!!!!!!! She grows so fast.

Dawson's 14th birthday was in January and he got all the stuff it takes to make a potatoe cannon. It's a long tube with a little lantern lighter on the end. We put the potatoe on the end and spray hairspray in and close the lid and when we turn the lighter it rubs against the flint and sends a spark and and sends the potatoe flying:) It's a lot of fun.

My dad had to go on some business trip last week and he sat in meetings all day. He left Tuesday and wasn't back till Friday:(

Last year we were going to go to camp but they were to full to take us. So this year we registered early and WE GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!! I am really excited. Dawson and I are also going to a day camp as helpers this summer.

Nov. 29, 2007 - Niagara Falls

Hi!

The last time I posted I forgot to tell obout our trip to Niagara Falls, Canada. It was awesome!!! We left at about 4:00a.m on September 21 Friday morning. We got to Niagara Falls around lunchtime. We went to see an I- max movie on a screen that was 6 stories tall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then we went over to the Falls. Talk about awesome! I can't believe how big they are! I wonder if they were formed during Noah's flood or if God created them for our enjoyment. I think he made them for us to enjoy because they are so big and beautiful. Maybe He made them to show us to remind us of how powerful He is. After we saw the Falls, we went back to our hotel and ate supper. Then we went back to the Falls when it was dark because at night they shine big lights on them and it is really beautiful. Then we went back to our hotel and went to bed. On Saturday we went to an African Lion Safari. We could drive through the safari and look at the animals. The safari had other stuff too. We went on a boat ride and we rode on a little minature train to look at some more animals. On Sunday we went to the Welland Canal and then we went back to the Falls to look at them one more time. Then we started home. We got home at 1:00 Monday morning. We all had an AWESOME time!!

I will post some pics. of our trip and of course you need to see my baby sister that I have been talking about for so long, GLORIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See ya'll later!!!!

My sweet sister with 2 of my brothers.

Gloria and me

See ya!

Nov. 16, 2007 - Lots of typing

Hi! Yup I'm back. Wow! Time passes way too fast with Gloria! She is almost crawling!

Tomorrow my mom and my aunt are going to a scrapbooking retreat together. So it will just be my dad, the boys and me. I might get bored ( Yeah Right) Come on Emily! You have 4 brothers to play with!  You can play outside all day (Brrrrrrrrr) You won't get bored. You have all those books that your mom got you at the library. Remember? Oh yeah, I won't get bored.

Thanksgiving is in a week!  Mom said we need to remember not to think of thanksgiving as a time to eat all the yummy food but a time to give thanks to God. But I still am looking forward to the sweet potatoes:)

At Christmas time my friends and I want to play the "First Noel" and "Silent Night" for church on our instraments. One of them plays guitar, one plays viola, one plays piano and I play mandolin. I hope it works out!

School is going really well and so far I like it. Tomorrow, ( since it's 9/11) we are going to watch video footage that my dad taped of the towers crashing. I can't believe it was six years since it happened! It seems like just two or three.

Thursday is my birthday:) !!!! I can't wait!! I am turning twelve.

Well I better go. The little boys are getting ready for bed and Dawson is practicing piano for lessons tomorrow and I have nothing else to say.

Sincerely,

Emily

Apr. 26, 2007 - My report

Gloria is sooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!! She can smile! I LOVE HER! She is so much fun to hold!!

Today we have piano lessons and school.

We had a couple days of at least 80 degrees. Now it is around 60 and raining. Rats, just when I thought summer was coming early.

In school Dawson and I are doing reports. Dawson is doing one on Franklin Roosevelt and I am doing one one King Tutankhamen. King Tut for short. King Tut was an Egytian king. His tomb was never found by robbers and when a man named Howard Carter and his crew found the tomb all Tut's treasure was there. They even found his mummy! You can see his mummy and all his treasure in museums today.

Well I better go, I want to get as much school done as I can before piano lessons at 9:30a.m.

Mar. 29, 2007 - No baby yet!

Hmmmmm, I wonder when the baby will come! It is one week past moms due date and I am getting impatient!!!!!!!

Right now Justin is sitting beside me begging to do "typing".

Yes! Brady and Connor are better!!!! We all have colds but we are getting better!!! Dawson and I just got home from piano lessons and mom is going on a walk to see if it will make her have her baby:)

We have to do Bible and history yet in school and then I am going outside to play basketball with a hoop that our neighbors and us set up. We have lots of fun playing basketball games or just shooting hoops. Other games we play with them are cops and robbers and indians and any other thing our imaginations can think up! When mom sometimes thinks it's to cold in the winter we still play outside with them. Our neighbors also come in as cousins because thier dad and my dad are both brothers so it's cool how they live so close to us.

The last couple days have been really warm. In fact, Tuesday was 80 degrees!!!!!!!!! Today is only supposed to be 50. Summer better be here lickety spilt!!!

In July Dawson and I are going to a camp out in Ohio called Choral camp. We went there last year and it was awsome!!!!!!! It is a music camp but we do way more than just sing! We have a shaving cream fight, a soap slide and much, much more!!! It is actually a Bible college so we get to stay in dorms with roomates and we have lots of fun!!

Well I typed way more than I expected to so see ya for now. Hope we have more warm weather!!!!

Jan. 22, 2007 - My story

Here is a story I had to write for school.  I hope you enjoy reading it!

One day two girls and two boys were walking up a mountain and they met a three headed green monster. They said, "Hi three headed green monster!" The three headed green monster said, "Hi!" (don't worry he was friendly) and he walked with them. After walking about 100 yards they met a flying pig and they said "Hi flying pig!" Only the green three headed monster chickened out and ran away screaming "Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flying pink thingy!!!!!!!!!" So then the flying pig walked with them and after about 100 yards they met a purple five eyed thingy-mabobber with a nose as big as a horse. They all said "Hi! and the purple five eyed thingymabobber with a nose as big a horse said "Hi y'all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he walked with them. Suddenly they heard THUMPING FOOTSTEPS behind them!!!!!!!!!!! When they turned around they saw the green three headed monster coming back when he realizedthe flying pig wasn't as scary as it looked to him. They all welcomed him back into their small but growing fast group. After they walked another 100 yards they met a 20 foot red monster with huge glasses and pink toe socks. The children and the three other monsters all said "HI!!!!!!!!" And the 20 foot high red monster with huge glasses and pink toe socks said "Hi!!!!!!!!!!! Like my socks? They all said they did and the 20 foot high red monster with huge glasses and pink toe socks walked with them. Soon the children had to go home and the monsters said "come again" When the children got home and told their mom that they saw a green three headed monster, a flying pig, socks she didn't beleive them but the story stayed alive to this very day.

THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May. 22, 2006 - Ramblings

Hi! like the picture of my hat? I had lots of fun making it.

Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to Gettysburg. I hope we have fun.

In the last weekend in June we are going to the March to Destiny. The March to Destiny is when lots of people dress up like they were from the Civil War. I am going to dress up and sleep in a Civil War tent! There are lots of things to do there! You can get wagon rides, go shopping in sutlering tents and many more things to do.

Yesterday 8 little chicks hatched! there is one that is white with black stripes, one is reddish brownish,

a little white one and a whole bunch of black ones.

On Saturday we were going to a ball game and Daddy picked up our boat to dump the water out and we

saw a corn snake! When I touched it he didn't feel scaley but because it was wet it felt slimy. He was red and yellow.

May. 20, 2006 - Make a hat!

School is done! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! This summer we are going to Choral Camp. It is a music camp in Ohio.

Yesterday I made a really cool fringed hat.

DIRECTIONS:

1. Cut a rectangle of felt to your head measurement plus1/2 inch for the seam in back. The width should be about seven inches but if you want longer fringes you can make it wider. then cut a narrower strip of another colored felt

for the band but make it the same length as the rectangle.

2. Stitch the band to the bottom of the rectangle with embroidery floss sewing with a running stitch.

3. Whipstitch the two ends of the hat. Stop stitching at the point where you want you're fringe to start.

4. Cut the top of the hat into a fringe.

This is taken from the book Sewing With Felt, by Buff McAllister.

This is what my hat looks like.  If you try to make one and have questions, let me know!  Have fun!

Nice and comfey!  I just got done with my shower and I'm getting on my drowsey side.  This morning my mom made a very good breakfast!  it allmost tastes like baked oatmeal but not quite.  After you make it you can put it in the oven and make it crunchy like cereal.  Even after you bake it it is still very good.  This afternoon we finished school and we went outside, watched TV. cleaned up and then dad came in and we had a very yummy supper of roast beef, beens, noodles and ice cream.
