I just came back from a visit with
homeschoolers in the Shawnee area where I did a workshop called
"Homeschooling Simplified." Two wonderful ladies - Vicki and Jerry -
arranged for me to have a workshop room at the local technical school,
put me up in a really comfortable room at their church, and fed me like
a queen! And all I had to do was talk which I love to do! About 50
homeschool moms and dads attended the workshop so it was a good turnout
for a free workshop. I tried something new for this workshop
- I did a powerpoint presentation. I really had fun doing it and adding
cute pictures to make it more "fun." (Those of you who know me
know I like fun!) We had a few technical errors but not so much that it
ruined the program. (If you'd like a peek, there is a pdf download of
the program on my website: http://www.oklahomahomeschool.com/speaking.html)
The best part was talking with the homeschoolers and helping them to
make their homeschool a little easier. That's my goal in life!
Afterwards, my husband and I went on a mini-vacation west of Oklahoma
City. We went to Red Rock Canyon state park on Sunday morning, ate
lunch in Wetonga, then went to Roman Nose state park in the afternoon.
It was a beautiful day, weather wise, and the autumn leaves were in
full color. Great for picture taking which is what we did.
One of the things I enjoyed most was walking a portion of the
California Trail that goes through Red Rock Canyon. These ruts in the
road are the marks left from when the wagons drove through. A great weekend - thanks Vicki and Jerry!
