This resource was written for grades 4-8 but it can be used at other grade level with adjustments. The lessons cover Native Americans, African Americans, Explorers, Colonies, American Revolution, U.S. government, the Nation Grows, Civil War, Inventors, Immigrants, Turn of the Century, Great Depression, World War II, Decades of 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Presidents, State, Washington D.C. Each chapter presents ideas for assignments based on multiple intelligences (learning styles): Verbal-Linguistic, Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Visual-Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal. For instance, in the Civil War unit, the V-L activities include writing reports and memorizing and writing the Gettysburg Address; the L-M activiites include making a graph comparing the north and south, constructing a time line, writing job descriptions; the Musical activities include making a collection of Civil War songs, writing a poem about a battle, and writing a rap song for slaves; the V-S activities include maps of battles, posters, paper dolls, and models of the war ships, the Monitor and Merrimack; the B-K activities include a field trip, making a diorama, writing and producing a play; the Interpersona activities include putting on a debate; and the Intrapersonal activities include reading books and writing a dairy account of a slave who escaped. I think you will find this a great resource for units and multi-level teaching.
