Mar. 26, 2007 SM Site Review
Hello there! Today I've got something you probably haven't seen in a while. A site review! Today the site is Shoujo Magic. Now any Shoujo fan knows this site but I figured a review is still in order.
Shoujo Magic is a scanlation group that specialises in shoujo manga. They got over a hundred projects in both the completed and active sections. Their updates also used to be rather frequent but the site went down a while ago and they just recently managed to get back on track. After hiring a load of editors they're back in business and will be releasing much more often.
Shoujo Magic currently has a distribution policy to prevent abuse and fraud in motion. This policy states that no site but a Shoujo Magic distro site has the permission to host their projects. Of course their projects can be found for download and online viewing at Animanga Network.
All of the projects at SM are shoujo except for a few exceptions. They range from all ages to adults only. The mature projects aren't separated from the non-mature, which can cause some problems, but every story has a thumbnail which shows the cover of the manga. If the thumbnail looks mature you can guess the manga is mature. The projects are grouped into either active, complete, future, and dropped.
This site has the largest group of shoujo projects and is very well known. They have a webchat, irc channel, and registration ability, and a very thorough links section. They also have direct downloads available for new releases. They also have a myspace page accessible from their site and an online radio. Not to mention the goody page. As anyone can tell, they have a lot.
SM also has more things but I figured my post was long enough already. By the way, soon I'm going to be adding a links page for all the sites I list here, but for now I'll just keep them in my posts. Also, during the weekend I found two more sites. Keiichi Anime Forever is an anime news and update site and Manga Volume is a site where you can view manga online for free. They have a total of 273 different series. Well that's all for today, come back soon! *waves* |

Hello everybody! I'm back! And I've got a review! Today is going to be a short one cuz I'm feeling lazy but it is a review neverless. Today it's for anime I like but really needed some work. Why not a favorite? Because it's boring hearing a bunch of reviews decribing every anime as perfect. Now the anime for today is (this will come as a surprise) ....Inuyasha!
Now, before all the loyal fans start throwing stuff at me, I would like to tell you that I did indeed like it but it definitely needed work. Why? Fillers. Too many fillers. Now I like a few extra stories to go along with the main story but to tell the truth, when you've got more fillers than actual storyline, there's a problem. The other problem would be the storyline itself. It's all great the first season and whatnot ,but as you get further, it gets repetitive. Different villains but the same thing. The main villain always controls the other villains. At the end of the series the bad guy doesn't even die. He just disappears to hide so he can become even stronger. Which, by the way, also happened in the second season. So can I say the latter seasons disappointed me? Yes. Was it a complete horror of a anime? No. Despite the repetitiveness, I still enjoyed it.
Okay. Since I've told you what I didn't like, might as well tell you what I did like. The music and art were great. I loved all the opening and ending videos as well as the various character themes. The characters were also well drawn (especially Sesshy-kun ^_^). Every villain was different and easily told apart from the other villains. Not to mention the dark scenes looked eeriy and the bright scenes looked colourful. Something else I liked about the art was the fluid fighting scenes. They did a really great job. Besides art and music I liked the humor. Sure they used some jokes too much but it was funny.
Well to sum it all up, the art, music, characters, and comedy were good, but the length and later storyline sucked. To tell the truth this series would have been a lot better if they only made it two seasons long. There would be less fillers and the story line wouldn't have been so repetitive. Towards the end, you could see the producers were extremely desperate to fill up the required episodes per season. The third season was a bad idea.
Well that's it! I've finished the review that was due yesterday ,but not done, and I've made it longer then it was originally gonna be. *bows* Thank you for waiting and not biting off my head. Plus no threatening me to do more reviews. I do them as I please *nods* I also wanted to add a site to my list of fan fiction sites. A Single Spark is a fan- fiction site that only has Sesshomaru/Kagome pairings. Now please be aware that just because they're Sess/Kag pairings doesn't mean they are all romances. They also have a good deal of Comedy/Parody stories. I recommend A Random Definition of Random for some quick laughs. Bye Now! *waves* |

Hello!
Don't you worry! My sleepy spell is gone! *runs around in circles* See! All better! Now I can get back to my reviews! But not today! *dodges cans of tomatoes* Today I felt like doing something else. Like congratulating Akuchi for always commenting! It makes me feel loved... Anyway thank you very much!
Now on a second note, I'd like to show you a site I've been going to often! Now I wouldn't have mentioned this site but I guessed it wouldn't hurt. And it does have anime related things. The site is called Anime Spiral. This site is a fan fiction site. In other words, you can read stories about your favorite anime written by other people and you can write your own. My fvorite secton is the Inuyasha one because it has the most stories (naturally since it is the best known). All the stories are unique and they're really fun to read. My favorite type of story would be the comedy/parody stories because they usually put the characters in new and ridiculous situations. Anime Spiral can be a bit diffucult to navigate in though so I also go to FanFicton.net and Media Miner. Fan Fiction is my favorite when I'm looking for romance stories with certain couple pairings beause they allow to narrow down the results to stories with that paticular couple. Anime Spiral on the other hand is best for parodies because firstly they have the most of that genre and secondly they allow you to narrow the results to just parodies.
That's all for my post. Please vist those sites but I will warn you, those stories are addictive. Once you start reading, you can't stop. I would recommend the parodies because they're so light hearted and funny plus some parodies even provide you with their own answers to some of the series unanswered questions. Especially involving Sesshy-kun. So go over and have fun. Bye !_!

Yup. Today there isn't going to be much in my entry. I haven't read or watched anything new that I feel like reviewing and still no permission. So today I'm going to tell you about me.
I'm 14 yrs old. I've been homeschooled for about a year and a half and I'm aiming to go back to school for my last year of high school. I'm interested in pharmaceuticals and plan for a career as a pharmacist. I live in Quebec, Canada in a suburb near Montreal. I plan on going to McGill because it is a wonderful university and it has the best medical school in all of Canada and possibly the United States. I also enjoy learning foreign languages. I currently speak English and French and am studying Japanese and German. After learning to speak fluently in these two languages I plan on learning Latin. My favorite colour is dark green and it is also the colour of my eyes. I have auburn hair. I like eating Japanese food, Miso soup in paticular. I also like chocolate and cheap corner store candy. My favorite anime is the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the first one I've ever watched is Sailor Moon. My first anime crush was Inuyasha from Inuyasha (obviously) and my current crush is on Sesshoumaru, his brother. The first manga I ever read was DNAngel and my favorite is Love Monster. When it comes to manga and anime I like romance comedies. I don't watch movies much unless one piques my interest. I dislike chick flicks but adore romanantic movies. One of my favorite movies is the Lake House. My favorite T.V show would have to be Will and Grace.
Well that's it. I don't really know what else to write and I'm feeling pretty tired so you won't have to bear a lot of perky comments that I sometimes make. That's it. Bye Bye |
