October 26, 2008 - Trick-or-Treat!

Although Halloween is in five days, trick-or-treating was scheduled for today.  Also, instead of going out for candy at night, the trick-or-treating time was from 2:00 to 4:00 (PM - duh).  I can't tell you why the date was changed from Halloween to today (maybe it was because kids wouldn't be in school on a Sunday), but I can tell you why they changed the time: There are so many gangs and kidnappers around the city where I live that it's not safe for kids to go about at night - not even at Halloween!  T_T  Pretty pathetic, isn't it?
But as long as we still get candy, everything is fine (or as Mister Cool or Tinuviel would say, 'it's all good!').  Plus it's better to be safe than sorry...
Maddie - who I, along with most of her family, my mom, and my two little sisters went trick-or-treating with - dressed as a hippie and did so perfectly.  (Tinuviel and Vintage Authoress decided that they were too old to go with the others and handed out the candy at the door.  They did dress up, though!)  I had been face-painting my siblings and a few of their friends until (what do you know!) it was 2:00 and I didn't have a costume yet.  Maddie followed me as I rushed around the house looking for something to wear.  (No costume = no candy.  o.o)  Finally, my mom found an old dress of hers and Maddie found a shawl.  Voila!  The only bad things were...
1:  The dress had shorter-than-short sleeves and I was FREEZING all day
and 2:  My mom also found an old bag that matched my outfit, but I barely had enough room for all the candy I got!  (Actually, I don't know if that's a bad thing or not.  :P)
My dad took a picture of Maddie and me, and I can show it to you soon.  He forgot to include Maddie's clunky-heeled hippie shoes that were giving her a pain the whole time we went trick-or-treating, but the picture's still nice.  Guess who's who.  That should be incredibly easy unless you are incredibly brainless.  (Baby Smiley ate the link, so click on his mouth to view it.)  :D
Thought you'd get a chance to see our faces, eh?  BwahahahaHA!  *clears throat*  So yeah...in a nutshell, trick-or-treating was fun but extremely cold.  Happy (early) Halloween, you all!
(PS - NaNoWriMo starts in, uh...*counts with fingers*...five days only!  ^.^)
