If you are looking to make a nice MEDIEVAL dress and want a more simple look ( and simple to do), try The Jumper. There is also a great Pattern for this dress McCalls 5499 CF .
Great for a peasant or work dress but could also look nice as a Princess dress with the right fabric.
I find this dress Popping up in some big movies: To name some.
The Princess Bride: Buttercup
The Lord of the Rings: Eowyn
This Dress has some lacing on the side, gathering on the under dress, and a V necked over dress. All of which could easily be changed.
Brave heart: Murron
This Dress seems to have a shorter gap under the arm and is tied at the waist.
I plan on making this Dress some day...but who knows when.

Jul. 15, 2009 - 1920-1930's Depression era Day/work Dress
The Dress below was inspired by the outfit worn in the 1920-1930's
This first dress I made using Simplicity 3964 
For this dress I used cotton fabric with a light plaid print giving it a more vintage look. The Sun Hat I Purchased at a vintage store for $2, and the jacket I had on hand.
This Second dress I purchased at a garage sale to 50 cents! I knew I would be posting the above dress and thought I could post this as well.

At long last photos of my Galadriel dress! Thank you for waiting!
This project took me about 14 hours ( stop laughing I am a beginner =))
Goal: To do this right w/ out adults.
Steeps:
1-Find a pattern(s) closest to the dress.
2-Draw my idea of how the dress should look.
3-Shop for all supplies needed.
4-modify patterns to get the results I want.
5-make the dress.
6-Compare results to Drawing.
Price: Ready for this...$11.00! This dress was much much cheaper $70 something I spent on my Narnia dress! Besides the sleves the whole dress was made out of our old drapes!
I answered some questions in order to wrap up my thoughts of this project.
What was the hardest part?:
Getting the fitting right for sure! I bought a plus size not knowingly.
What problems did you have?:
Water stains on fabric, cutting wrong, buying a plus size.
What would you do different next time?:
Not buy a plus size.
What was the best part?:
Working together on a project with my good friend Lucy . I hope to get her Arwen costume on sometime also! *hint hint* Lucy.
What was the easiest part?:
The hems.
What are some things that you learnd?
Check the size of what ever pattern you use!
Would you do this again?:
Sure. I had a lot of fun doing this!

I am Very Sorry about not getting any pics of the Galadriel Dress up! I want to have a photo shot in the spring, the photos I have now are no good. But now that is is spring I should be posting them in a few days!

The gray spencer jacket from the 1995 BBC Pride & Prejudice worn by Polly Maberly as Kitty Bennett (left two images), was seen on the 2007 ITV Persuasion, worn by Sally Hawkins as Anne Elliot (right image).
Comparing the images of Marianne and Maria Rushworth, they look identical. Maria Rushworth is on the right.
The checkered silk dress seen here was worn in the 1995 S&S by Emma Thompson , Mansfield Park (Fanny Price),

Nov. 3, 2008 - Lucy's red Dress from prince caspian

This took about 15 Hours. including shoping and cutting.
this is the dress I was trying to make I think it turned out good.
Lucy wears it in Prince Caspian the new movie.
Goal: Make a complex costume and learn how to use a pattern and modify it.

Materals needed:
Fabric Pen- to Make Markings
Thread -Skirt & Sleeve Color.
Inter Facing -1 yard Ironon'
Sleeve Fabric
Braid- For Sleeve/Piping Cuffs/ Neckline
Fabric -for Neckline.
Fabric -for Outer Skirt.- 2 1/2 yd" 21 zip
Gray ziper 16"
7" zip Inner Skirt
I bought fabric for the under skirt at a thrift store it was at one point drapes
Patterns
McCalls 5499.- for modified bodice & Sleeves.
McCalls 4246- for under Skirt and over skirt.
My Gramma and I answered some questions in order to wrap up our thoughts of this project.
What was the hardest part?:
Getting the fitting right, and covering the buttons.I had to draw 58 flowers on by hand with a marker also which took 4 hours!
What problems did you have?:
We ripped some fabric on the under skirt.
What would you do different next time?:
We would not do a zipper, instead we would not do the button holes on the back for the lace up.
All in all it was a good project, and it was fun to work together with different ideas bringing together the finished dress.
What was the best part?:
Working together on a project as we only see each other for 2 weeks once a year.
What was the easiest part?:
The hems.
What are some things that you learned from your Gramma?:
I learned what a tailors tack was, also what a bias was, how to cover buttons
, how to gather, how to hem, and some other stuff.
Would you do this again?:
Yep, we just wouldn't make it any harder.
