Everest Academy

Teen Book Club

Teen Book Club
Yahoo Group

The Teen Book Club meets once a month in the Birmingham area.
We usually try to go on an outing that has something to do with the book theme.  We encourage the teens to bring in written work, art, or music they have created and would like to share. It should be noted that presentations should be kept to three minutes or less.

Please note that the book of the month is voted on by the group as well as the location and date to meet.  It is the responsibility of the parents to make sure that the book selection is suitable for their child to read.  The group leader takes no responsibility for the contents of any books read.  Everyone is welcome at the book club meetings regardless to whether or not they have read the book.

This group was founded by Destin Hicks and is headed up by her mother, Lisa Hicks, who is an ex-librarian and a career story teller and has a true love of reading.  You can contact Lisa at StellarStory@aol.com.  Well behaved younger siblings are welcome to attend as long as accompanied by the parent!

Parent Book Club

Parents also have a book club that meets at the same time and place as the Teen Book Club.  This group is headed up by Lisa Hicks who is an ex-librarian and a career story teller and has a true love of reading.  You can contact Lisa at StellarStory@aol.com.

About Everest Academy

Everest Academy believes that the parent has the best interests of their children at heart. We believe that the parent is the first and only teacher that a child needs. In keeping with this philosophy, we wish to be a very hands-off cover school and allow the parent to lead and guide their children in the direction and at the pace they feel is best suited to their children. We ask only for what the law requires while offering support along with quality resources to aid families in their efforts.
