~ Enjoy ~ Its Monday! Its Monday and the dc's are planning their week of rest. They will be off from Wed to Mon of school and they think its great. It works great, because dh is home these days and I thought it would be good for them to be able to spend time w/him. I still must work, though, everyday this week except Thur. from 9a-1p, but thats okay I choose to do this for a season and I'll keep my word w/o complaints.
Today has been slow going, no one really seems interested in anything and I think its a good time for a rest. Tomorrow closes our 11th week, which means we have only one lesson week in the term, then its exam week. Our term has 13 weeks, which gives us a week for exams. Once exams are over, they will have some down time and then we will work on a leisurely schedule til the first of the year.
If all goes according to plan, we can finish our week successfully tomorrow, get our chores finished by Wed including the grocery shopping. Then we will visit w/friends in Muskogee for Thanksgiving.
Tomorrow, I'll take the time to outline our Thanksgiving dinner menu in a post and maybe share a recipe or two. I have been reading some at other blogs and some look absolutely delicious. I may just link to their blogs too.
Well, time to turn in for the night, more tomorrow.
Til next time ~ in the Life & Times of the Excelsior Warriors! Concerts, Concerts, Everywhere!
Its been a wonderful rollercoaster ride of music, ministry and fun. We have had the opportunity to attend 3 concerts this past week and meet some of the bands in person.
Oct 25 - David Crowder Band "Collision Tour" with Shane & Shane and Robbie Seay Band. This was an awesome concert at the Mabee Center. It was filled w/music, the Word, and the presence of God. We arrived at MC at 4:30p and got to sit on the floor in front of the stage - 5 rows from the stage. Yes, it was totally awesome.
Oct 29 - Todd Agnew's "Reflections of Something" with Inhabited and Starfield. This was another awesome concert. Todd ministered to us on a personal level and challenged us to be more like Christ instead of a Christian. It was thought provoking, maddening and very inspiring. I experienced a range of emotions during this concert I was angry, elited, and in awe of the presence of the Lord and how He wanted me to be more like Him. I left with a sense of renewed passion for my walk and a new level of compassion for myself as well as others. We got to meet Inhabited at an autograph signing and that was really wonderful. The band members were very personable and friendly. 4 of the 5 were homeschooled and the lead singer and guitar player are siblings. They are such a blessing and we hope to stay in contact w/them. We have agreed to keep each other in prayer and they have decided we are their new family in OK. We got to volunteer for the concert and work at Starfield's table. They were great too. The road manager is the wife of the lead singer and she is incredible. She keeps them focused and does her job well. All in all this was a great time of ministry for me and I left with a sense of renewed purpose for this journey. I look forward to doing it again. We received our tickets the night before at a "Fifth Quarter" party we attend. Oldest dd went to win a long board designed and autographed by the band Stellar Kart and I went to win Agnew tickets. However, I didn't win tickets, two people blessed us with the ones they won and oldest dd won the long board (its a very long skateboard for those who don't know what this is). She is so siked
Oct 30 - Kutless "Strong Tower Tour" with Krystal Meyers, Disciple and KJ 52. This was a two day event in Grove OK that featured a Battle of the Bands, Skateboarding Demonstrations and performances by local bands to include The Weeping Tree (totally loud rock) and Radial Angel (one of our personal favorites) along with the Battle winner who also got $1000 prize. It was loud, fun and the area was very beautiful. We crossed the Grand Lake in Grove which was magnificent with the Sun breaking through the clouds as we crossed the bridge casting an incredible light onto the water. Kutless performed my favorites and I was truly impressed with their performance. We got autographs from TWT and RA, which was very cool.
Okay, I have said probably more than any of you cared to know
Well, I'll keep you posted about the next one, if we make it. Its set for Mon, Nov 7th, "See Spot Rock" concert featuring Pillar. I am interested, but may have to sit this one out - its been a wild two weeks being a concert fan. Don't know how people do it. I am just grateful that the Lord provides for these events and it has been a blessing to give back like we did when we volunteered to help our local radio station.
