Progress is exceedingly slow

Posted in Life n Times

Due to much stress and everyone working, my lovely school plan has not yet manifested.  We did start the work but have failed to finish.  I'm not sure exactly what I will be doing about this especially since it affects everything and everybody.  I'm praying about how to proceed so that all things are covered.

Riley didn't graduate and we didn't go to the homeschool convention in Va.  We did get to go to the Charlotte Mason Conference in NC, that was very good for us.  I'm recharged and energized which is definitely needed right now.  I'm hoping to get her all finished up before Christmas and have her take the ACT & SAT so if she decides to go to school in January she'll be ready but I'm thinking she'll have to wait til next fall.

We all work in retail and have been hit hard financially.  There have been little to no hours which is hard when you are trying to payoff some bills and maintain.  I've recently taken on another part-time job and am considering leaving the retail job but will probably stay through the holidays.  My new job is at the library and will allow me to homeschool in peace and completeness.  Something that I believe we desperately need at the moment.  I start today and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm going to go and complete the 3 things on my to do list.  More later ~ in the life & times of the Excelsior Warriors!

Progress for today

Posted in Life n Times

Today was quiet ~ no school. Da Boy decided we needed to start on Monday so we will. I'm not sure who made him the boss but whatever works. I did manage go to the library and print off math sheets and order our books. Yeah me! We will be able to get started on Sunday actually with our devotional. Still prayerfully considering which book to use though I'm leaning toward finishing up Mere Christianity.

Thats all for now ~ more when we get started next week and the books come in.

Howdy ;)

We're back from a mini-vacation to Branson ~ it was a fun and restful until this morning.  I've been having some issues with eye allergies but that wasn't too bad until dh and I went to a resort sales mtg.  After this meeting, which was not that great, I was nauseous and my eyes hurt and itched.  I'm doing better now but my vision is not 100%.

Kiddos are doing well getting ready for fair work which starts next week.  School will be slow til after the fair.  We will be doing mostly reading ~ I think I'll add a few bios on math and science dudes and dudettes, that will keep things interesting.

Well gotta go at the library and I'm tired.

til next time ~ in the life & times of the Excelsior Warriors!!

Still hanging around

Posted in Life n Times

Haven't posted much here or on the other blog ~ been too busy.  We are doing well, school will end in 10 days for a mini break.  We will then resume doing 6wks on and 1wk off b/c it will save my sanity. ;)  We are still using Charlotte Mason w/Ambleside Online as our core and its working great.  Lots of things have changed for us one being my working at a different store part-time and plans for a move.  We are currently looking at just moving within the state but we are not against relocating to another ~ its time to move on.  Our current living situation is becoming increasingly intolerable ~ no a/c and its hot folks.

I'm sure we will survive but it sure looks bleak on most days.  Sk8Chick turned 20 and is still working but now has turned her focus to going to college.  Riley is starting the serious college search but nothing pending yet.  Unfortunately, Da Boy has broken his front teeth and we will need to have those reconstructed and hopefully he will still go to college and leave off the extreme sports after this.  However, I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Our local CM group is growing and I'm excited about that.  It is something I've wanted for a long time ~ to have like-minded moms to talk w/once a month.  We even started a yahoo group to talk during the month which was one of the things on my heart to start.  I'm enjoying mtg at Starbucks, drinking coffee, chatting and sharing w/these ladies, it really has help to get my perspective back on track.  I'm glad we changed everything and its working great.  There's also a homeschooling family that has started discussions and mtgs to start a CM school here in line w/Ambleside Schools of TX, that will be a wonderful asset and I'm prayerfully considering if I shall have a role in it other than praying.

My knitting has picked up though I've decreased my swapping and spending ~ yeah me!  I'm enjoying making things for others though making socks are still my #1 fav things to knit.  I hope to visit the yarn shop this week though the cost of gas has me making shorter trips out or not at all other than going to work.  I hope that changes soon so I can enjoy going out again ~ miss my wkly sbux nights and going wherever I want.

Off to finish knitting and reading some blogs.  Hope to see you'll again soon.  Nite!
