Defective Compositions

Sep. 5, 2007 - Whistle While You Work

I'm sure that all of you have had to do the dishes, at least every once in a while, but how many of you enjoy doing those dishes?  No, seriously, I would really like to know if anyone does like doing the dishes, and their secret.  Why do you enjoy washing the dishes?

I don't mind doing them so much anymore, since I got my mp3 player.  I can go online to the public library website and download books onto it.  Currently I am listening to The Count of Monte Cristo.

See, what I do is this, I get the player all hooked up and turned on, tuck it into a pocket, or sling it around so that it hangs down my back, and then begin.  It does wind up taking me a little longer, as I get slower so that I can pay attention to the story, but I don't entirely dread it anymore.

What do you guys do while you wash the dishes?   A lot of you probably have sisters who help you with that, so you can talk to them, but there is no way I could convince my sister to help me!

I guess, really, it isn't that bad after all.  It is only the thinking about it part that I really dislike.  "Aww man, I have to get up and do the dishes!"  Once I get going it is not that bad.

By the way, for those of you who do not have a personal audio device, you could put a cd in your computer and turn the volume up loud, or get a portable cd/tape player.  It doesn't have to be a story, either.  You can listen to your favorite upbeat music, yes, upbeat, while you work.  This is what the phrase "whistle while you work" was made for.  Something to get you moving!  It also helps to make everyone more cheeful if they are listening, too.

Interesting post... my thoughts...

"I guess, really, it isn't that bad after all. It is only the thinking about it part that I really dislike. "Aww man, I have to get up and do the dishes!" Once I get going it is not that bad."

I don't usually do anything while I am washing the dishes.. mainly thinking about how many I have left and I usaully time myself to see how long it takes me. Amanda and I went to the store yesterday so she didn't get to do dishes at 4pm when she was suppose to... so after dinner, we had ALL the dishes from the day (after1pm).... it took me an hour and half to wash them all. I had dinner dishes.

I used to really like doing dishes and cleaning but with several (um, 10 people) in your house it can be quite a load!

I like doing the dishes by myself... no one to bother me, but then again it's nice to have some one to talk to. Amanda and I usually talk about bloggers! LOL!

And, THANK YOU so much for award - I hadn't gotten that one yet!

And, thanks for your thoughts about my header.. you know I am changing my template, right? lol... I am thinking, though, of having a template switcher so you can choose which template you want on there. ; )

Love,
Jocelyn.
ps. boy that was long

Awweee thankz for the comment. I LUV pictures too! Anyway-yes I do dishes! I like (and I know this is weird) to think over ALLLLLL the conversations I've had with people during the day and I think of different ways I could have replied to them. Kinder ways, sassier (I know that's wrong) ways, but it passes the time. I also recite poems that I've memorized while I do them. I have even DANCED while doing the dishes. LOL!!

Your a cool gal-

Eyebright,

What a great idea about the dishes! Thanks for sharing! I usually think about what I am going to do afterwards. Then I will have a motivation to get it done. Do you have to do all the dishes by hand or load them in the dishwasher? I just have to load them, so I guess it's not that bad.

I read your post about your latest story. I am that way, too. I have a story idea, and get started on it, but half the time it is never finished.

Sounds like a neat idea. I've been wanting to do a Jane Austen-themed one for a long time!

The only reson that I don't sit there and talk with you while you do the dishes is because I useally have something else I could be doing!

Hello!
I'm taking a poll on my blog, for use in my upcoming college speech. If you have time in the next day or two, could you come over and answer the question? I need as many responses as possible! Thanks!

I really like your new template. Did you make it? I've been wanting to create a three-column template for a while now. It looks very splendid!

Ok, I deleted some messages...can you get through now?

The thing is you may not like doing it, but you have to.But you have a choice to do it with a good attitude or a bad one.
Either way you had to do them, so you might as well have a good attitude while you do them
