Defective Compositions

Oct. 25, 2007 - How Important Is the Pencil

The pencil is mightier than the sword.

Why not use the pencil instead of the pen?  If it had been properly sharpened, it would hurt more than a pen, and would leave a longer-lasting mark!

A pencil saved is a pencil earned.  Benjamin Franklin

In our house, if you can manage to keep a hold on a pencil for a week, you've earned it!

Give me a pencil, or give me death!  Patrick Henry

Everyone has heard these famous words, and if you have troubles keeping pencils in your house, you know them to be true.

A pencil is mankind's greatest blessing.  Mark Twain

Thank the Lord for whoever created the pencil!

I have a pencil!  Martin Luther King Jr.

This is a cry of triumph when a lost pencil becomes found.

Pencil, oh pencil!  Where for art thou pencil? Shakespeare

Oh, the lament for the lost pencil!  This is what you say if you haven't kept a hold on your pencil.

There you have it!  Who knew that pencils were so important or popular?  To read about other pencils, you can go the HSB Company Porch.

That was a great pencil post! I like the way you changed all of those famous sayings. This challenge was fun, wasn't it?
