Defective Compositions

Nov. 28, 2005 - My Christmas Poem

This is a poem that I wrote about Christmas.  It dosn't have a name yet, so if you have any suggestions...

Twas the night before Christmas,

and all through the house,

only one creature was stirring,

and that, was the mouse.

He knew of the yuletide,

yet all was not right.

He had felt the tension,

in that joyless night.

The family was poor,

their pockets were bare.

Mouse was sorry for them.

How could he share?

He didn't have much,

nothing to give.

He had only enough

so that he could live.

Mouse had an idea.

Oh, he must be quick!

He ran out of doors,

and, oops, it was slick!

He went to his cousin,

for she stayed up late.

"Do you have any money?

Please help me Kate!"

They ran to the toystore,

and though it was closed,

through a hole in the back,

tha little mice nosed.

They both ran around,

picking objects to share.

They left money behind,

then left for their lair.

They had to make trips,

to carry the load.

And while they were working,

it snowed and it snowed.

When all was done,

they climbed into bed.

Together, so tired,

they laid down their heads.

All through the next morning,

they sat and they waited.

Great looks of surprise,

they anticipated.

But the family slept in.

They did not know,

they were hurting the feelings,

of the two mice below.

When the family woke up,

and rubbed sleep from their eyes,

the mice got what they wanted,

many looks of suprise!

I reget to inform you, that this poem that dosn't have a name will be continued at a later date.  (It's kind of a long poem, I wanted it to have 25 verses, and I just realized-this is a very long poem!)

Nov. 29, 2005 - Love it!

You could probably finish it with another verse or 2. Something about being grateful and never knowing who gave the gifts. I was surprised to see the new picture. You look just like your Mom!
