That's right everyone, HITT is back! I don't know how exciting that is for you, but I'm excited. You can find the first HITT HERE. I won't be able to post HITT every week, but please feel free to post it yourself! There won't be a linky, but at least your own readers can benefit.
Conserving Water
This is an issue that not many people have to deal with, there are wells in abundance in the USA. However, my family has to deal with it, and maybe someday you will to.
My family's property does not have a usable well; we use a cistern to hold water. We have to pay every so often for a man to bring us water in a big truck.
Being able to make things last as long as possible is a good thing to learn. Someday, you could be in a situation where you didn't have enough money to buy what you need, so have to stretch it. I thought I would just share some of the ways that we do, have, or could, conserve water. Maybe they will be helpful for someone, and it gives a good example of what I mean.
- Take fast showers. We have six people in our family, and having all of us take showers twice a week uses quite a bit of our water.
- Reuse the shower water. We plug our bathtubs and then shower like normal. When we are done we scoop the water out and use pour it on our outdoor plants.
- Use your dishwater for the same purpose as above.
- When you get a glass of water, drink it all. Don't pour the rest down the sink, or leave it laying out where it could be spilled.
- Check appliances that use water. Our dishwasher is one that we have to manually hook to the faucet, and it leaks. We make sure to turn it off soon after it finishes, or else it continues to leak.
- Wash your car in town. I don't know how much money this really saves, but it saves your water!
- Catch rain water in a barrel...no, just kidding! We don't go that far!
Many of these don't really save that much more water, but at least they make you feel like you are doing a little to help!

Conserving water sounds a bit stressful really, though I'm sure if you're used to it, it just becomes a way of life. Thank you for posting ways to conserve water, just like you said, one day I might have to. It's a good thing I know what to do now! :)
I posted my Homemaker in Training post (yes, a day late), but it is up! I signed Mr. Linky. Thank you for doing these, they are so sweet, and it's wonderful to learn from other young ladies who are learning to become better homemakers. I look forward to more, though you won't be able to do it every week, I'm still excited that they are back!
Blessings,
Miss Emily Rose

just last week I was wondering if you were going to continue these! I am so glad you are! :)
While we have our own well and we don't have to conserve, having a mind to conserve is one we all need. It is important to use what we have the most we can.
Living where you do, catching rainwater would be an excellent idea! We do it here in Indiana. I love the taste of fresh rainwater!
I hope to get one of these up soon!
Prayers and Blessings,
Miss Amanda

To Get The "Perfect" Avatar: Have a sibling or parent take about 50-100 photos on a digital camera from all different views and angles. About every 10 photos, look at what's been taken so far, and if not satisfactory fix whatever needs fixed or give suggestions on different angles. This process should come naturally, if it does not, try it again another time, right then just might not be the best time.
Okay, so that is kind of a joke, and kind of not. That's what we do, just a little exaggerated. We just decide that it's time for photos, and we take them like inscribed above. Hope that helps! Though that's not the only way to get a good avatar, it works for us. After we're done, we download them on the computer, delete the ones we don't like, and then pick out our favorites. Narrow it down to one. Edit in Photoshop. Ta-Dah! The perfect avatar!
On Monday, I'll mention HITT in my collage post. I made a new icon for it, I found the perfect image and got permission from the owner to use it! The last one I used was getting a bit old, and didn't have the feeling I was going for. :D I'll see if I can hook up any strings to get a few more involved in HITT. ;) That is hilarious what you said about it just being a conversation between the two of us! lol! I do enjoy our conversations immensely, but it would be nice to learn from other young ladies as well. :D
Yes, I prefer unique bags as well, whether bought at a garage sale or homemade. Unique is, is . . . um, unique. That's about all I can say. :)
Don't worry about the comment being long - those are my favorite! ;)
God Bless,
Miss Emily Rose
P.S. Sorry I haven't gotten back with you about the apron - time flies - literally! Anyways, I have a few deadlines for projects, but as soon as those are done I'll start on your apron. Do you still want the bright summer colors? or something different? Just want to make sure you'll still like it. I have not yet bought the material, so you have time to think about it. Just let me know. :)
