Aug. 8, 2008 - Susanna's Blanket
Coming upon a year ago now, Bluejane and I had this great idea. Everyone knew that Mrs. Suarez, the TOS Publisher that we all know, was going to have a baby. In honor of the upcoming event, we thought that it would be fun, and create a neat gift, if we got together with other knitters on Homeschoolblogger, and make a blanket.
We began by finding the knitters, telling them of our idea, and asking if they would like to take part. Everyone had to knit about three squares of a specific color, with machine washable yarn. A good thing for a baby blanket.
Now, if you ever decide to do a project like this, make sure that you decide on a gauge. We didn't, and because of this, we wound up squares of different sizes. That was the one thing that we didn't specify, and that made things a little harder on us, the ones who had to sew it all together.
We also had to make more squares ourselves than we realized. The real delay was because of my slowness in sewing all of the squares together.
However, this past July, we finished it, just in time to give it to the little cupcake, in person! So, now, for the first time ever, here is the blanket that many of you worked on, finished and residing with Susanna Suarez!

We would like to thank those of you who participated. Also, if you name isn't mentioned in the list below, and you helped with this project, then we apologize profusely, and will add your name.
Thank you so much, everyone, for participating, and for your wonderful patience concerning our tardy gift-giving.
Welcome Susanna!

Hello I'm herb girls mother. We have just recently begun to knit and I looked far and wide a few days ago for a simply knit square pattern that we could use to make a blanket. PLEASE share the directions to this....it looks gorgeous!
Thank you!

How utterly adorable!
Reply to your comment... I understand what youre saying about wearing pants. I do wear pants in the winter when we go to barn chores. :D
Swimwear
. I think I pretty much hold your views and was also going to be one of my next topics (or included). When we went on vacation we went swimming at the hotel and all of us, even the boys, wore tshirts and shorts (although I wore a skirt with shorts underneath). Unfortunately we were asked to get out of the pool or go naked
I mean in a swimsuit. :-/
Yes, long hair is feminine and Biblically modest. Another topic to topple, especially in terms of men vs women. So much more attractive, imho! :)

Thanks for the comment...I saw your blog on the front page of HSB!! Congrats on being featured; that's so neat!!
Aww...you knitted a blanket for Susanna...how sweet. :-) I can only do a little bit of basic knitting, but it would be so fun to learn how to do more.
I read Anna Karenina this past year too. It's quite a story, though I found it pretty much impossible to settle on a definite verdict of it. My confirmation sponsor is a psychologist, and she said that this book served as one of four main psychoanalysis studies...we went on and on about Anna's character; it was fascinating.
And I love David Copperfield and all of its charming characters! I still haven't read any Chris Walley, though I've heard Amanda talk about his books so much!
I'll see you around on goodreads. :-)
Best regards,
Sylvia

What a sweet gift! I'm sure she loves it! It turned out very pretty, and the finished edges look really nice.
My cousin (magg93) has a mandolin, and started to learn how to play it (not sure how much she's learned so far, she said she took a break from it). I've really enjoyed the violin. It's extremely popular, almost too popular, but I suppose that's what happens when it's a pretty instrument. :)
We've really enjoyed studying Polished Cornerstones, and I'm glad to hear that you'll still be using it, it is very encouraging.
Essays are enjoyable to write, but also a bit stressful. Especially when you only have 25 minutes to get a good rough draft during the SAT test. I hoping to take the test this fall . . . I'm a little nervous.
Blessings,
Miss Emily Rose
