Defective Compositions

Sep. 10, 2008 - Our Notebooks...Easy to Make...Easy to Use

I know that many of my readers also read one of my friend's blog, The Time That Has Elapsed, owned by Vintagegirl.  Well, recently, she posted a really neat craft tutorial that I just fell in love with.  I became determined to make one of my own.  I also recruited my lovely sister Bluejane, and together, we sat down yesterday to craft!

You have to go check out this awesome craft tutorial for yourselves, Notebook...Easy to Make...Easy to Use.

So, here is my notebook, and for once, it is a project that I vastly pleased with.  I am just hoping that I use it!

As you can see, the one just behind mine is Bluejane's.  She did a really great job on hers.

This picture is a close-up of the tabs on the side.  Since the over-all theme of mine was kind of grungy, I decided to add a little color to the tabs.  I was very pleased with the results.  Some of them I colored more than others, and the effect was quite nice.

This is the back of my notebook.  It is kind of busy, but I think it matches the rest of the book.  I love quotes, so adding one was exciting.

Finally, a close-up of the back.  I didn't think you could read the letters very well in the first picture.  Yes, it says Finis.  I liked how Miss Emily Rose had put The End on hers, and so as I was thinking of another way to put it, Finis came promptly and suddenly to mind.

I haven't put any categories on the tabs yet, because I haven't really thought out what I want.

So there it is.  I think it is a great idea, and I encourage you to make one too!

Beautiful! Oh, those turned out so sweet. When I was growing up my family had horses and chickens so I really like both of your themes.
I also like the way they feel too. I haven't put much in mine yet, but I will. I am so glad that you liked the idea and took the time to make them. The girls will be so excited to see your pictures. (when they get a break from their work :) )

How adorable!!! You ladies did such a wonderful job. They are so cute! I'm so glad you posted about it. Sometimes when I post the crafts, I never know whether anyone else ends up making them or not. They are very enjoyable to make, and fun to fill with all kinds of information (though I haven't written much in mine yet)! Thinking of the tab names was a bit difficult, but then all kinds of ideas rushed into my head after I had thought of one of the section titles. I've thought of a few more since I wrote the post, but I can't remember what they were. If only I had the notebook in my hand, I could have written them down before I forgot. ;D Also, I don't know if you go to the library often, but they would work great to write your book list in.

The distress on your tabs adds such a creative touch, now I'm wishing I'd have thought of that. ;) You're brilliant! :)

I hope you enjoy filling them with special information. 4x6 photos also look really cute in them with the two holes punched out.

You can also set it up open (horizontally), and make it into a calendar. I might end up making another one and doing that, but I'm not sure.

Hope all is going well with you! Sorry I missed the last HITT, I forgot and then was too busy. I'll try to get in on the next one. :D

I'm happy to share my crafts whenever I get the chance, and it makes me even happier to see other enjoy making them as well! Thank you for linking to me . . . very sweet of you.

God Bless!

Those are so neat! You and Emily have totally forced me to make one! I collect notebooks. haha! seriously I have like a million notebooks and I love this one!
I totally loved seeing yours!

Stepping Heavenward inspires me everytime I read it too! I think I have read it about 5x and each time I see something in myself that I want/need to change! What an amazing book! I believe everyone should read it because it isn't really for girls only. Guys can totally gain from it too!

Thanks for coming by!

Thanks for the comment, and I am sorry that you don't have many butterflies...but I am sure the climate has many other charms.

Very Original! I also have been wanting to make one, however, I asked Emily Rose if SHE would make me one, (I am not a very crafty person), so then after reading this... I am determined to make my own. Thank you!

Have a Great Day!

Those are *so* cute! Just adorable and they fit you both so nicely. I bet you had a lot of fun making them. I got to see Emily's live tonight and hers is simply adorable. Hopefully I will make one soon. :)
