Defective Compositions

Mar. 9, 2009 - The Great Bedroom Swap

Several days ago, I was walking past my brothers' bedroom, and saw a brilliant shaft of sunlight shining in through the window.  It made me stop, and decide that I would love to have that west facing window.

Our current room at the time had a north-facing window, and light never came directly into the room.  It was kind of dark even on sunny days.

So, Bluejane and I discussed it with our parents, and brothers, and all agreed that it would be a fun thing to do.  Boy, we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into!

We started yesterday, and moved everything out of the boys' room, into the schoolroom.  Then, the room got a major clean, we scrubbed the walls, filled all the holes in the walls, and vacuumed the carpet.

Next, we began moving all of our stuff into the other room.  Bluejane and I commented several times that we have way to much Stuff!

Currently, our new bedroom looks like a tornado came through, and I sometimes groan when I think of cleaning it.  I plan on getting rid of a whole lot of things though, such as, a glitter lamp that we never use, a pair of shoes that don't look very good under skirts, papers that I don't look at, etc.  Hopefully, I can get rid of enough stuff to make the room look like what we planned on.

Our plan, was this.  We have never had enough room for a desk, and we have always wanted a desk, and when we thought of moving into the other room, we immediately thought of putting the desk under the window.  Perfect.  Next, we put our two hopechests in a corner, and we plan on making custom cushions for making a reading nook.  I can see it in my imagination, and hope it turns out as lovely as I see it.

One of the biggest challenges is fitting all of our clothes in the closet.  Again, we will have to get rid of some things.  The finished closet will look neat, too, because we hope to put curtains over it, instead of the usual sliding doors.  All of the fabric will coordinate with our matching bedspreads.

Anyway, that is the excitement in our lives lately.  What a job!

How exciting. My sister recently moved into my parent's room because my dad is gone during the week, at the State Police Academy. So, I have my own room on the weekdays. Anyway, have fun. I usually enjoy cleaning up my room as long as I have music to listen to. I'll talk to you later.
God bless
Love,
Hannah

Hmm, that sounds fun! :o) I kind of like organizing, but my stuff never is really a mess, so I'm not sure if I would really like fixing up my room if it looked like a tornado had been through it. Of course, that might be a lot different if I traded rooms with my sisters...

I see on your to-do list on your sidebar that you want to read about the Russian Revolution. So do I! Have you found any easy-to-understand books on the topic? What interested you in the Russian Revolution?

Sounds fun! I share a bedroom with Alizona, and she'd like it if she got to sleep with one of my other sisters, so we all got new roomates, but I like sleeping with her!!! I remember when we did that once before, and it was a huge mess... We could barely walk around to do anything! We probably have to much stuff too. :-)

A few weeks ago, I read some historical fiction about him! I enjoyed them, but some parts were a little confusing... Do you like to read history books, or historical fiction?

I might start using that then! (if my mom will allow me to)

Amy

P.S. If you'd like to, you can move this into a pm... :-)

Well, my camera isn't exactly small... you can see pictures of it here: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/BookLover/647344/ Like I said, I take it every where! I even took it to the dentist today... :-)

We went to "talk to the dentist". (he's an orthadontist too) Instead, we talked, and then did 3 months work of treatment on me... :-) Cut gum, pulled teeth, took molds... Alison gets braces a a couple of weeks, and I get some other thing... I'll get braces in 6-9 months. So, its quite the process! :-p LOL!

What did you like/not like about having braces? We have the nicest dentist! He said that the lady who will be doing most of the othadontistry with me is a photographer! :-) How exciting. LOL!

Oh I know how this is! I've wanted to switch my room for a while but am so scared of things 'I can't do without' only after I've found them. But happy cleaning and organizing to you :)
I'm glad you enjoy teaching to knit.Too bad you didn't live near to teach me :( Oh well, I will be content with crochet.
By the way, the meme isn't every day,
it's for once a week only. Hope that helps. :)
Well, hope you have a great week.
