Mar. 17, 2009 - Cell Phone Cozy

Posted in Sewing

I am sure that you have had times where, you see something that you really like.  "Well, of course!"  you say.  "Hasn't everyone?"  However, have you ever seen something that you really like, and then realize that you would never use it, but you still want it anyway?  I do.  I try to figure out ways that I could use the item in question.

For example, a cell phone cozy.

I saw this pattern in a book called Wagashi.  Now, I don't use a cell phone holder,  I just stick my phone into my purse and call it good, but when I saw this, (which was the only thing that I really liked in the book), I decided that I would try to start using one!

I have just about finished mine.  I still need to add a snap, and a clip on the back.  I have never been too keen on hand sewing, but this is entirely hand-sewn, and I actually enjoyed it!  Mostly, anyway.  :)

These were the first Yo-yo's I have made, and I absolutely love them!  While I was making them, I couldn't help but think of Vintagegirl.  :)

I also learned how to do the Herringbone stitch, which I like very much.  It looks so good on the edge of this case!  Now, what else can I use it on?  Hmm.

It took me a while to decide what fabrics I wanted to use, as our collection is limited to what we have picked up from other people.  Not a lot of it matches.  At first, I wasn't sure I would like the red with the orange, but now that it is all done, I love it.

Next on my sewing list, is a skirt made with some rather interesting material.  Stay tuned!

I love hand sewing too! It makes you feel like you've accomplished more... It looks very nice! The yoyos finish it off perfectly. I've made a few of them and I too, always think of Emily Rose. :-) I'd like to be given a yoyo maker, because I don't really make enough to want to buy one...
I'm going to go write a post about rearranging our bedroom so drop by!

I kind of like handsewing : ) It is relaxing (well, most of the time, unless you are patching a very stiff cello case!!!). I want to learn more handsewing stiches.
Very nice! : )
