Oct. 13, 2009 - Thoughts of the Seasons
Elizabeth tagged me with this absolutely delightful tag!
In Spring, my favorite things are seeing all of the baby animals learning to walk, running, and frisking about. I love to see new growing things, because they are such a unique color of green. There is an air of new life about that fills me with joy.
In Summer, I love lazy days on the porch swing, whether we be reading, writing, napping, talking, or simply enjoying. I love playing croquet in my Grandparent's yard, the cool touch of beautiful green grass, and the shrieks when the sprinklers suddenly come on. I love hiking in the woods, and admiring the flowers and ferns.
In Autumn, with me being a sweater lover, I love having the brisk days when a sweater isn't optional, but a must. I love the brilliant colors. I love the cozy feeling that I get just because it is Fall. The crunching noise that leaves make when you step on them, the rains, the puddles that come after the rains, is all some of my favorite things about Autumn.
In Winter, I love curling up in a wad of blankets, socks, pillows, and sweaters, to read a book. I love the fresh, untouched look of newly fallen snow. Sledding all day and coming home soaked is one of my favorite winter memories, along with sledding on an old car hood pulled by a 4 wheeler, sitting around the fireplace in a lovely, huge fort that my Uncle helped my cousins to build, and going out on Christmas morning to pick and pull a sagebrush for a Christmas Tree.
Now that I’ve told you my favorite thoughts of the seasons I challenge you to a tag. I’m going to tag four people to follow my thoughts of the seasons and have them tell me theirs.
I tag….
3. Pen 2 Paper
Even if you’re not one of the four bloggers chosen above, feel free to post your feelings with a link back to my blog.
Rules of the tag
1. Tag at least three people after your post.
2. Post back to the blog that tagged you.
3. Post the rules of the tag and please don’t post the things you least like about the seasons, but what you like best ![]()

Sep. 29, 2009 - Ten Things About Me
Miss Breezy posted this tag, and I thought I would take it and pass it on!
- I used to name the trees that resided in our yard. Jack and Beautiful were their names, and I cried and sobbed when we had to move and leave them.
- I don't like coconut, and never have.
- I prefer to read about European or Egyptian history, rather than American.
- When I was small, I had a strange sense of fashion. I would yank my socks as high as I possibly could, and then carefully roll them down to my ankles. When it was cold, I would don my bathing suit, and when the sun was blistering hot, I would be dressed for a snow day. I am glad to say that I have acquired better taste.
- Our family has almost considered moving to Chile.
- I like singing hymns in church. Not popular, contemporary songs, no matter how "Christian" they might be.
- One of my favorite actresses is Julie Andrews.
- I get excited about knitting to the point where I begin to loose sleep. Ridiculous? Probably.
- When I was small I wanted my hair to grow to my ankles. Now I am older, I realize how much work that would be. Still, way down in my romantic side, I think it would be kind of cool.
- Mrs. Polifax is one of my favorite mystery heroines.

Nov. 26, 2008 - Seven Facts
About a month ago, Rita T. tagged me with a seven facts tag. You are supposed to post the rules, but as I don't intend to follow them, I won't! I just thought it would be fun to share seven facts about me, with all of you. So here they are.
- I usually cannot sleep with socks on. It makes me too hot, and I don't like the way it feels under the blankets. I only wear socks when I am very cold, and even then, after I warm up, I take them off in my sleep.
- I have a hard time finishing projects if they aren't quick, and then, a lot of the time, I don't like the finished product! I think it is a perfectionist thing.
- I want to learn to play an instrument well enough to be able to play in an orchestra. I'm just not entirely sure which instrument yet!
- Someday I want a Bull Terrier. They are so cute!
- My middle name is the same as my mother's middle name, which is the same as her mother's middle name, which is the same as her mother's middle name...
- I recently crocheted a mushroom. He's kind of cute!
- I don't like coconut, or liver.
If anyone else wants to do this tag, feel free! Just leave me a comment so I can read it!

Jul. 16, 2008 - New Blog Widgets
I doubt any of you have noticed this, since the button is way down at the bottom of my sidebar, but there is something new. Go on, take a look. Do you see it? No? Well, even if you did, I'll tell you.
Whilst searching for widgets today, I came across AnswersTips from Answers.com. After you insert the button on your blog, readers can double-click on any word in your posts, and a defintition will pop up in a bubble. Pretty neat, huh? I think it does way more than that, too, so make sure to check it out!
Just as a note, it doesn't work on the links, because when you double-click on links, it opens the links. Did that make sense?
Also, the post below this one is a Bible Search. You probably have already figured that out by now, or would have if you had looked at it. It is really nifty. Just type in a word that you want to find in the Bible, and it will do the work for you! My Mom got it a while back, and I thought it was kind of silly. Then, I found myself using it more and more. Finally, I had to get one for myself. There is also a Bible Search bar in my sidebar, so you don't have to search for the same post through all the rest of them.
The neat thing about the Bible Search, is it will also search certain parts of the Bible, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, or even the books of history, poetry, and law.
Anyway, I thought I would point out these swell new features on my blog. I hope you use them!

Jan. 30, 2008 - Three Tags, and an Award
Yes, I know, three tags? I have been slack on posting these, and so they accumulate. Ah, well.
Tag 1
This tag was a gift from my sister, Bluejane.
You have to tag five people and they must write about a book they are currently reading or have already read. They should also try to post a picture of the cover.
I would love to post a picture because the cover is so pretty, but I couldn't find one quickly. Lysbeth is the story of a woman, from when she is young, clear to when her son is engaged. At the beginning Lysbeth is pitted against the merciless Count Don Juan de Montalvo, and from then on, the great events in her life take place between these to intriging characters.
Written by H. Rider Haggard, this book has 443 pages. I would recommend this book to any historical fiction lovers.
Tag 2
These next two tags came from ritatubbs.
Rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people.
My Book: Lysbeth: A Tale of the Dutch
"The grey eyes also retained their depth and fire, only the face was worn, though more by care and burden of memories than with years. The lot of the loving wife and mother was hard indeed when Philip the King rulled in Spain and General Alvarez (Alva) was his prophet in the Netherlands.
'Is it done?' she asked."
Tag 3
The rules are:
(1) Link to the person that tagged you.
(2) Post the rules on your blog.
(3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
(4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
(5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
- I really cannot blow my nose. When I was little my parents made me try to blow a cotton ball across a table with my nose; the cotton ball went nowhere.
- I have a pink mp3 player.
- I lived in Hawaii for four years.
- Right now, I sleep with a sheet, two fleece blankets, a heavy, wool blanket, and a comforter on top of me. It's cold here!
- I have never been to Boston in the Fall.
- I have an internal alarm clock. If things are normal, I will wake up anywhere between 7:55 and 8:15.
And now, I will proceed to tag six other people, combining all of my tags. All of you I have tagged just need to pick one of the tags, to do. (You can do more if you want.)
- Beloved Peace
- Amy
- Bluejane, for the ones she didn't give me.
- Sweetpotato
- AmandaJoyful
- Starwisher
Now, for the award. Jocelyn kindly gave me the Excellent Blog Award, and I thank her for it. However, I have decided not to accept it, as I am not going to give it to ten other bloggers. I know, I know, that sounds mean, but when everyone is giving ten people awards, then everbody gets them pretty fast. I don't have several awards, but I always involuntarily say to myself, "Well, I will get it eventually."
So, sorry Jocelyn. I really do appriciate your giving me the award, but I am going to pass.

Oct. 25, 2007 - How Important Is the Pencil
The pencil is mightier than the sword.
Why not use the pencil instead of the pen? If it had been properly sharpened, it would hurt more than a pen, and would leave a longer-lasting mark!
A pencil saved is a pencil earned. Benjamin Franklin
In our house, if you can manage to keep a hold on a pencil for a week, you've earned it!
Give me a pencil, or give me death! Patrick Henry
Everyone has heard these famous words, and if you have troubles keeping pencils in your house, you know them to be true.
A pencil is mankind's greatest blessing. Mark Twain
Thank the Lord for whoever created the pencil!
I have a pencil! Martin Luther King Jr.
This is a cry of triumph when a lost pencil becomes found.
Pencil, oh pencil! Where for art thou pencil? Shakespeare
Oh, the lament for the lost pencil! This is what you say if you haven't kept a hold on your pencil.
There you have it! Who knew that pencils were so important or popular? To read about other pencils, you can go the HSB Company Porch.

Sep. 17, 2007 - Blogging With A Purpose Award
Narniagirl awarded me the Blogging With A Purpose award. Thank you Narniagirl.
Click Here to go to the website
Now, I am supposed to award this to five other people, but I have the same reasons as Narniagirl for only awarding it to only three. Apparently, you can get the graphic by clicking on the award above and going to the website, but it didn't work for me. I just right-clicked and saved it to my computer.
Sweetpotato ~ She has been reading like crazy this summer, and finished a ton of books. After she finishes a book, Sweetpotato delves into the books' characters, themes, and plot. Is this a book worth reading? How did the author mean to portray this character? In the end, was what this character did right? These, and many more are the questions that she answers in her detailed book reviews.
Lyric ~ She was the one who awarded me the Nice Matters Award, so I am now returning the favor. Lyric's posts are always informative, she posts funny, and thought-provoking quotes, and, she knits! That's a plus for anyone. Another thing that I like about Lyric is the way she writes. She doesn't use slang all of the time, she uses proper punctuation, and so forth and so on.
Bluejane ~ How can I not award this to my wonderful sister? Without her, my life would be drab, and hardly meaningful! Her posts are always funny. What would I do without you?
There you go guys, I now pronounce you awarded. You may put the graphic on your blogs.

Aug. 9, 2007 - The Rockin' Girl Blogger Award
I have been gone for such a long time, that I have been nominated for the Rockin' Girl Blogger Award three times! My brother Kekoa says that for that I should be an Awesome Girl Blogger, not just a Rockin' one. I think Rockin' has a better ring to it.
Thanks to Sagerats, my Mommy, Starwisher a long time friend, and...and...well, I thought I had been tagged by someone else too, but either it was my imagination, or I don't remember who awarded it to me. Sorry anyone out there if I forgot about you!
Anyway, I now have to pass this award on to five other bloggers who really impress me. However, I am only going to award it to three. These are bloggers who make me think, who have a heart for the Lord, and who don't hesitate to show their love for Him to others. I respect them a lot. These bloggers inspire me. Here we go.

Sweetpotato ~ This girl loves books. A girl after my own heart! She writes thought provoking, and funny posts. I really enjoy reading her blog. Her blog is pretty nearly dedicated to books.
BelovedPeace ~ I have only just started visiting this blog, but it has made enough of an impression on me to choose BelovedPeace as a Rockin' Girl Blogger. She has stunning graphics that she posts, and so far I have loved visiting her blog.
TheLordsDaughter ~ Yet another blog that I really love reading. Her posts do not carry on with polite nothings, but have a well thought out point. She is another blogger who loves to write and is working on writing several books.
I didn't see the award on your blog anywhere so I assume you don't have it. Well, now you do.
I really admire you girls. I think that says a lot.

Jun. 30, 2007 - Kekoa Tagged Me!
|
Kekoa has tagged me, so here I go. I believe you have to add three lines and tag three people. I am not tagging anyone though, but you can do the tag if you want.
Once in a land of magic there dwelt an old sorcerer who desired a dragon to keep him company. But dragons were expensive in those days so the old sorcerer (by the name of Wynn) decided to go on a quest to capture a dragon and bring it to his home in the mountains. He packed his belongings and a case of Pepsi and set off, humming the hit song I Was Made To Loaf. He hadn't gone far, when he came to a deep, deep, trench, streching as far as he could see to the left and right. So Wynn opened his limited edition copy of “Simple Spells for the Stupefied Sorcerer” to page 142 and read the directions that were written there. He heeded them and after gulping down three cans of Pepsi (sugar was the one thing that calmed his nerves), belching twice and chanting a few magic words Wynn felt himself flying over the trench, well, half way over. Suddenly, he felt a powerfull force pushing down on him from above! That powerfull force was called gravity. After thirty seconds of falling, he began to wonder if he would ever land.then a dragon came out of nowhere and Wynn landed on the dragons back. The dragon hiked back to the top of the cliff but did not stop the dragon kept flying and flying.Wynn was asleep when the dragon landed so the dragon set Wynn on the ground. Wynn woke up with a terrible pain in his head. Reaching up with his hand he felt blood, and winced, for when he was falling, a rock had hit his head. When he sat up to get his bearings, he saw the dragon that had saved him, dozing peacefully a few meters away.
Here is my addition:
Wynn rushed to the dragon, and petted it, and kissed it, and named it George. The dragon submitted to this display of affection with patience, and then grew angry. "Why are you wasting time, when we need to go and defeat an evil usurper?"
There you have it folks. Anyone who is interested in continuing the story is welcome to. Have a great day!
