Mar. 6, 2008 - Dish Carnival Along with Show & Tell Friday

Posted in March 2008

Since I didn't get this posted until late last night, I'm going to use this for my first Show& Tell Friday post also.  I hope that's okay (I just don't have the brain power to come up with something else clever today .)  So come join me at CanadaGirl and join in the fun there also.

Today, Shannon over at Rocks in my Dryer, is hosting a Spur-Of-The-Minute Dish Carnival.  I thought this could be fun-so I'm joining in.  After all, not that many people see our dishes.  It comes with being so far from family, moving so often, and trying to make new friends to invite over-just in time to move again-oh well.  Now all of you two people (who have probably already seen said dishes) will have the pleasure of seeing them today (again).  Without further ado, please let me introduce the Fleming Dishware...

This is a platter from a Limoges set that belonged to my husband's grandmother.  This is the only piece we have with us at the time, the rest of the set is being stored at my MIL's.  With all the moves, we don't want to risk losing any of the set, but we keep this beautiful piece as a reminder.

Here is our good china.  This set was my husband's parent's wedding china.  We use it at holiday times and whenever we feel like eating off of something special.  This is a huge set, 8 place settings, plus all the serving pieces.  Jason insists on being the only one to hand wash these dishes-so I think I should really rethink the whole only at holiday times policy.  Maybe these should  be my everyday dishes.

These are our everyday dishes-they are from Pfaltzgraff.  We've had these forever!  We got married in 1994 after all.  I've been thinking about getting a new set, something a little more- not old.  Come on, admit it-don't you ever just get tired of looking at the same old dishes?  I just haven't been able to do it.  I mean I have the full set along with a lot of the serving pieces-that's a lot to get rid of, not to mention $$ replace.  I think we'll probably have these for a while lot longer (but a girl can dream right?).

The last picture is of a plastic set that we picked up at Target years ago.  It's nice and spring-like and some days it just makes me happy.  Especially during this never ending winter in Michigan.

Well, thanks for dropping by.  Stop over for a meal sometime-I've got plenty of dishes.

Wow! They are very similar! It's not the same thing, though. My china is Johnson Brothers, Baroda pattern.

Oh, those are pretty pieces. My china sits above the refrigerator....can't wait to pawn it off on my DD, who wants it. My mother said all well-brought-up girls get china and silverware before they're married, so I did it. But I'm not that kind of gal. Give me paper plates or a Laura Ingalls little plate and cup of my own, and I'm content. LOL

I love the china - very pretty! Our everyday dishes are Lenox Casual Elegance and I am bored with them. So many pieces have broken over the years - we are down to just one cereal bowl in that pattern! I would love to replace them, but can't justify the expense right now.

Very pretty! I would have had to show my vintage Tupperware collection--vintage because we've had it a loooong time. Just yesterday my big mixing bowl with lid (circa 1985) finally wore through the burn mark from where I sat it on a hot burner on the stove. Leaked all over the counter (soapy water, fortunately), but I still had a pang when I threw it away. :) Thanks for your comment on my homeschool petition/icy wetland photo blog.
