A Peculiar People
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation,
a peculiar people;that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath

Jul. 21, 2008 - Chow with the Cooking Cowboy

Posted in July 2008

Well, I decided that since the Cooking Cowboy was such a cute post, I'd make it a regular feature here at A Peculiar People.  I'm calling the series Chow with the Cooking Cowboy!  So, here we are with another episode starring Jacob...

This week the Cooking Cowboy will be making pizza.  He will begin by assembling the ingredients needed to make the pizza sauce.

It's a very simple recipe.  My assistant, I call her Mommy, came up with it.  Basically, you use tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, italian seasoning, pepper and some sugar.

First, you pour the tomato sauce into a pot.

Then you start adding the other ingredients.  I'll start with the italian seasoning.  We don't measure anything around here-we like to just wing it.

We also like things spicy around here.  Do you think I'm adding enough pepper?

Now, we'll let that sauce heat on the stove for a bit.  While the sauce is heating up I'll gather the ingredients for the pizza.  We'll be making 2 pizzas tonight.  My lovely assistant, Mommy, prepares and pre-bakes the crust ahead of time.  (She makes double batches and freezes them.  She's very smart that way, always thinking ahead.)

First thing I do is put the sauce on the crust.  I like to sing while I cook, how about you?

Step two, add the cheese.  We like a combination of mozzarella and cheddar.   Make sure you throw it on there, it's a lot of fun.  And cooking should be fun, right?

Some of the people here also like pepperoni, so I'll add some.  You really need to smoosh it on there-you never know when those pesky pepperoni will try to pop off.

After baking, on tiles, in a 500 degree oven, the pizza will look like this...

TaDa!!  I can't wait to eat-doesn't that look yummy?
