Hero Name: Wolf Woman
Real Name: Julia Wolfe
Hair: Blond, just about shoulder-length, slightly wavy
Eyes: Blueish-Grayish
Height: 5’6”
Superpowers: Telepathic and, eventually, telekinetic.
Partners: Grey Wolf and White Wolf (making “The Wolf Pack”). Also Wolf Girl, whom the rest of the Pack is training.
Costume: Short-sleeved top and capri-style pants. All white, with a howling wolf on the front of the shirt and the letters WW on the back. Gold utility-belt; black gloves and boots. White mask with night-vision; wolf ears on top of her head.
Action: This short story takes place a few months after Wolf Woman discovers her telepathic powers, which she‘s been keeping a secret from all of the other Heroes except Raven and the other telepathic Heroes. She’s training Wolf Girl on the roof tops of Wolvesville, their hometown.
Wolf Woman went to one end of the roof and ran to the other. Once she got to the edge of the roof, she jumped and did a front flip. She landed nicely on her feet. Front flips used to be hard for her, but now they were a cinch! She turned around to face Wolf Girl, “Your turn.”
Wolf Girl went to one end of the roof and ran to the other as she had seen Wolf Woman do. Then she jumped and flipped. She too landed on her feet, but slightly off balance. Wolf Woman ran over and helped her to steady.
“Good job!”
“Thanks.”
“Want to do it again?”
“Sure!”
Wolf Woman ran and flipped back across. Wolf Girl was about to follow, but then they heard screaming.
“Let’s go!” Wolf Woman said to Wolf Girl through her radio.
The two of them used their rope guns to swing to the other side of the street, and they landed on the ground.
They immediately saw the woman who had screamed. They also saw a masked figure running away from her. “Wolf Girl, make sure she’s alright, then follow me.” Wolf Woman took off after the masked man.
She quickly caught up with the man and got in front of him. She was about to tell him to give her the purse he’d stolen, but then she noticed that it was a minion, Blue Minion to be exact. Minions are almost never alone. Wolf Girl might be in trouble!
Wolf Woman kicked the minion in the shoulder, but he braced himself just in time, so he didn’t fall over. He punched, but only hit air as Wolf Woman dodged. From her lowered position, she punched the minion in the stomach and then she quickly went down farther and kicked his legs out from under him.
He fell and she quickly grabbed the purse and ran towards Wolf Girl and the woman. “Here’s your purse.”
“Thank-you, Wolf Woman.”
“Wolf Woman, where’s the thief?”
“Ma’am, I think that you should get home,” Wolf Woman said, “Is where you live far away?”
“No, my apartment is in that building right there,” she pointed to the building right next to them.
“Good, good-bye.”
“Thank-you again!”
“No problem.”
The lady left and Wolf Girl asked again, “Where’s the thief?”
“It was a minion, and minions almost never work alone, I needed to make sure that you two were safe.”
“So you just let him go?” Wolf Girl asked in disbelief.
“Not really, ‘cause here he comes.”
“You’re quite smart, Wolf Woman. It must come from your advanced mind power.”
Wolf Woman turned, “Telepath,” she snarled. “Wolf Girl, stick with the minion. Once you’re done with him you can help me.” she whispered.
The minion attacked, and Wolf Girl met it. But Wolf Woman and Telepath just stood still and stared at each other. Finally, Telepath made his move, kicking toward her shoulder. Wolf Woman grabbed his leg and spun around sharply. Once she felt him start to lose his balance, she let go.
She used the momentum from her spin to jump at Telepath. She pinned his right arm down and punched him in the face. But he used his greater strength to roll over with her on the bottom.
Wolf Woman pulled her legs up and pushed him off over her head. She sprang to her feet and attacked before he’d fully gotten up, kicking him in his side.
He fell over and she went towards him, but then she felt pain in her head, like he was scanning her. She attempted to block it, and, to her surprise, she did. He’s stronger than I am. How can I be blocking him?
Then she turned and saw Wolf Girl on the ground in pain. But she still felt Telepath trying to get through. Or maybe this isn’t Telepath.
Wolf Woman ran to defend Wolf Girl. She kicked Blue Minion in the head and he fell to the ground. Telepath came towards where they were. I just hope I can fight both while keeping up this block! Or I could call for help. Raven and I are close in mind, so maybe she’ll hear me. It’s worth a try; I don’t think that I can do this alone!
So she used all the mind energy she could spare from the block and called, RAVEN, HELP!
“How pathetic,” Telepath said, “Crying out for help when you know that she can’t possibly hear you!”
“What’s more pathetic, a person who knows when she needs help, or a person who hides behind telepathic weapons?”
“Such confidence. You really think that your cry for help, which drained a lot of your strength, will be heard?”
The minion jumped up and kicked. But Wolf Woman used her trick again and caught his foot. She swung him towards Telepath, but he’d seen the trick before and expected that. He stepped out of the way and the minion went flying.
The throw left her off-balance and Telepath punched her in the face. She fell backwards, but she didn’t hit the ground. Wolf Girl, although still in pain, had stood up and caught her. Wolf Girl, I’m tired, I can’t fight anymore. I’m going to block the pain in your mind so that you can fight him. Can you do it?
Wolf Girl’s eyes widened, then she nodded.
Pain flooded into Wolf Woman’s mind as she switched the block to Wolf Girl’s mind.
Wolf Girl, now free of the pain, jumped up and kicked the surprised Telepath in the shoulder. He fell back a few steps, but her kick wasn’t hard enough to send him to the ground.
While he was still catching himself, Wolf Girl punched him in the face.
“Wolf Girl, look out!”
The warning came too late. Blue Minion kicked her in the back and she fell forward. She rolled over just as Blue Minion jumped at her. She pulled up her legs and he landed on her feet. Then she kicked him back over her head.
Wolf Woman then felt pressure on the block she had around Wolf Girl’s mind. Telepath broke through the block and Wolf Girl fell to the ground in great pain. A deep scan!
Suddenly, blackness engulfed Telepath and Blue Minion. They rose up off the ground. Wolf Woman and Wolf Girl’s pain all disappeared. “Raven!”
“Are you two okay?”
“I think I am, how about you Wolf Girl?”
She stood up, “I am now. Thank-you Raven.”
“Then let’s get these two to the jail. But first,” Raven used her powers to pull something out of Telepath’s pocket. “I think that this is where the mind pain was coming from.” Raven shattered the small device with her mind. “Now get your Wolf cuffs out, I can’t hold them up like this for much longer.”
Wolf Woman and Wolf Girl cuffed Blue Minion and Telepath, and the three Heroes took them to the Wolvesville jail.
Hope you liked it!
