My dh, Mark and I come from very different families...

My family is very big in number - I'm the oldest of siblings - with the spouses and grandchildren - there are 27 of us now...(Mark has one sister)

Mark's family plans everything - they would NEVER dream of just stopping by our house for a visit and they only live 10 miles away (My family lives over 2 hours away and we see them MORE than we see his family and my family SPONTANEOUSLY shows up for visits - sometimes without warning)

My family grew up "churched" - out of the seven of us - a number have turned away from what they were taught or even the decision they made as children. (My husband's family all walk with and serve the Lord)

My family is loud (Mark's is quiet)

My family is chaotic - uncontrolled chaos and controlled (Mark's is ALWAYS calm)

It's amazing to see the differences and even wonder - HOW did Mark and I even come together and begin to build a family of our own...

What we know - is that it was and is DIVINELY designed.

God knew...

He had a plan...

and we continue to stand amazed as we see it unfold.

We are all so different - it can be a challenge at times...

We all have our issues, we all have our little quirks ---

Yet - we work through them...because we are FAMILY.

We have major differences here too. I think it is so neat at how they blend and make it better. I do think that some of the bad has rubbed off too and we are working on that. Great post and thoughts to go with it.

That was a beautiful and honest post. Thank you for you for being candid. I can share the same sentiment. My family is chaotic, big and loud. We will get together for anything. A birthday, a loose tooth, whatever the occasion. My husband's family is small and they kind of keep a distance from their extended family which really makes it small. When we first dated and then married he didn't understand such behavior and I didn't understand their behavior. Like you said God is good because we are family and now it is rarely even an issue that comes up anymore. We appreciate and enjoy each others family, and our union has brought the two separate families into one family. Not always happy family but one family.
