Crystal (the unicorn) and I sat under the tree my house was in, enjoying the shade. We were just talking about the nice weather when Crystal asked me a strange question.
"What's it like being smaller?" She asked in my head. I was dumb-struck. I didn't know what to say. What could I say? 'Everything's just bigger?' No, of course not! If all I knew was being small, what could I say? So I simple said,
"I don't know how to explain."
"Well, you're magical. Make me small (You see, unicorns can't do things like that. Only fairies and pixies.)."
"I'm only thirteen. I can't quite do that sort of thing yet." I replied.
"Try. Please?" She told me. It took some time, but after a while, she got me.
"Oh, alright." I answered. Five minutes later, before stood me a young girl fairy, with white hair, pale skin, blue eyes like Crystal, light white butterfly-like wings, and a white colored dress with no shoes.
"Whoa!" She cried. "This is amazing!" But I gasped and said,
"What have I done?" The girl (Crystal), looked at me and said,
"You shrunk me, of course!" It was then that it hit her. "Wait... I'm a fairy! What have you done?"
"I-I don't know." I stuttered. "Sorry," Crystal rolled her eyes.
"Great, what am I suppested to do now?"
"I don't know, maybe find a powerful fairy or pixie who would change you back into a fully sized 13 year old unicorn, which, believe me, is nearly impossible."
"Why is it impossible?" Crystal asked me.
"Because, I'd be so in trouble, that they wouldn't really want to do it by themselves, and would have me do it by punishment." I answered. "But... We could try and find a rainbow flower, though that's just legend."
"A... Rainbow flower?" She said in disbelief. "What's that?"
"Well, legend says that the rainbow touches the ground sometimes, or a flower touches it, and after the flower is touched, then it changes to the color of the rainbow it touched. The most common color of a rainbow flower is red. Which is unfortunate, because red flowers are very common as well."
"Yeah." Crystal said, looking at the ground.
"Sorry," I said, for what seemed like the umpteenth time.
"That's alright! Let's go hunting for some rainbow flowers!" She said, perking up. I almost said 'But that's just a legend, it might not be true.', but thought better of it.
"Yeah, but just one problam. You can't fly for about two years." I said instead.
"What? What in Refuge makes you think that?" She asked.
"I think that because fairies can't fly till they're about two, and since this is your first time, I think you probably can't fly."
"Let me try." Crystal said, then her wings started moving a bit, then she started lifting off... And then she dropped. "Awww..."
"Well, you did pretty good. Most fairies can do that at almost two. Maybe it will take about four, five hours before you can fly better than that. But that depends on the magic, I've never done this before, so I don't know."
* * *
After waiting for about two hours of trying to figure out what do to, it seemed that searching for rainbow flowers was the only option.
"How much longer do we have to wait before I can fly?" Crystal wondered.
"I don't know. Try again." I said. So she stood up and her wings started moving, lifting her off the ground. This time, it took her about as high as my tree house and then she decided to go down.
"I can fly!" She cried on the way down.
"Great!" I called back up to her, flying up to meet her. "Let's go into my house to get supplies, in case we can't get back. After all, it's gonna take a while, and it's getting just a little late. It's 4:00."
"You're right." Said Crystal, and we flew up to my house and got a couple of tents, some food, and a change of clothes. Luckily, Crystal and I wore the same size.
"Will your family miss you?" I asked, while packing her bag.
"No," she said. "I go off on adventures almost all the time. They're used to me running off."
"Good," I said, "cause you could be gone a very long time." I said, and handed her a big bag. "This is all your stuff." I myself had a big bag about the same size as hers. "Let's go." |
