One of the areas that I fall behind on in our home-educating is spelling.  I've used several spelling workbooks but we do not have a good system to learn or reinforce spelling lessons in our home.  Spelling is the only area on Jennifer's Iowa Test's this year that she didn't meet or exceed grade level. Although her scores were just a little behind,this area has me prayerfully looking for a way to beef up her/our spelling lessons this year.

How it works:

The program is downloaded directly onto your computer.  Then you can begin your child with one of the premade spelling lists there or you can enter your own spelling lists.  You record each word with a sentence that uses the word.  To make it more fun and engaging you can also record using silly voices and sentances.  Or maybe have the child's grandparents record the spelling list for the week.

In our home, the review:

I had Elizabeth try out this program last week using one of the pre-made lists.  She used the frequently misspelled words for 2nd graders.  It was fun for her!  And later she was spelling out loud the words using the sentences for that list.  She asked me several times that day and week, can I please do my spelling again? 

Although I have not retested her for retention, she will be using this program throughout the summer to facilitate her spelling.  When Jennifer's schedule slows down I will be having her work on spelling using this program as well.
